Yesterday's Mass Shooting.

Kind of my point. Three times the death rate annually vs a record yr for gun deaths but why not maybe ask how come nobody already has?
If you want to try and understand gun deaths by making a comparison, instead of comparing gun deaths to other deaths, compare gun deaths in the US compared to other countries.

Assuming you’re honestly trying to understand.

How does the gun death rate in the U.S. compare with other countries?
The gun death rate in the U.S. is much higher than in most other nations, particularly developed nations. But it is still far below the rates in several Latin American countries, according to a 2018 study of 195 countries and territories by researchers at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.
The U.S. gun death rate was 10.6 per 100,000 people in 2016, the most recent year in the study, which used a somewhat different methodology from the CDC. That was far higher than in countries such as Canada (2.1 per 100,000) and Australia (1.0), as well as European nations such as France (2.7), Germany (0.9) and Spain (0.6). But the rate in the U.S. was much lower than in El Salvador (39.2 per 100,000 people), Venezuela (38.7), Guatemala (32.3), Colombia (25.9) and Honduras (22.5), the study found. Overall, the U.S. ranked 20th in its gun fatality rate that year. Interesting. More than half in US are suicide so those deaths won’t end regardless. Should we compare drug deaths now? To be fair?

how do you equate this to the NRA? That’s ridiculous. Why not say “another violent shooting in the gangster culture of America?” It’s such a strange assumption

how many shootings are carried out by NRA members? How many dollars did these individuals donate to the NRA?

way to pivot and not address the real problem case by case
how many guns exist because of the NRA's advertising campaign? because they deny the facts about gun violence that are apparent to the rest of the world? how much russian money do they have to take before people realize they're stupid pawns for russian disinformation? https://www.npr.org/2019/09/27/764879242/nra-was-foreign-asset-to-russia-ahead-of-2016-new-senate-report-reveals

https://www.everytown.org/press/new-nra-admits-financial-support-from-russian-official-reportedly-at-center-of-fbi-investigation/

https://www.newsweek.com/nra-fund-russia-uvalde-school-shooting-1712397

the NRA used to be a good thing, teaching kids gun safety and providing a forum for hunters and target shooter...now it's turned into a marketing platform for gun makers and a willing tool of russian agents...

Im not saying any are acceptable but school shootings take less than 35 kids a yr
does it matter who is getting killed with guns? how old they are?
there is a big fucking problem that needs to be dealt with, and the best solution would be to phase out handguns in this country.
the best way to do that is to ban further sales, and ban current ammunition sales in all handgun calibers, as well as the sale of powder and primers to reload with.
handgun owners have been handed way the fuck too many opportunities to police themselves for decades now, and they not only are incapable, they're disinterested...and that results in your toys getting taken away because you can't play with them nice.

if somebody is told they should stay away from firearms by a doctor. it doesnt mean you dont have the constitutional right not to bear arms.
dude...i'm not sure that actually meant anything...?
if someone is told they should stay away from firearms by a doctor, they either have hearing issues that could be compounded by the noise, or they have mental issues, and that should be more than a warning, it should be a clear disqualifier.
rights are conditional...if you commit a felony, you lose your right to own a gun, if your psychologist says you shouldn't have a gun, then you shouldn't have a gun.

The fentanyl zombies are bigger news and get far more resources than school shootings in my area, and I'm in the place known for school shootings.

We should tell everyone that the junkies are gonna smoke all the guns, two birds one stone. Just kidding, the gun people would do something really dumb in response like blow up taco bells instead of addressing the issue.

Look man i think both are a national tragedy. I believe a life is a life. Im just wondering where the outrage for fentanyl is considering its killing alot more of us at just about any age
people don't usually give a fuck when drug addicts kill themselves, it's a self solving problem (according to them)...
they tend to get a lot more upset when people decide to kill other people.
when someone murders a dozen people with fentanyl as they're shopping at Albertsons, maybe they'll start caring.

Of course it matters. Does it matter who’s being killed by opioids? How old? I agree take the cause of death away…..

thats comparing apples and oranges, and is nothing like a fair comparison...the policies for each are different in every country across the world.
if you ignore those suicides across the entire world, the US still has an enormous lead on the rest of the world...because we sell guns like expensive candy.

I would examine Spain and Germany’s gun polices. Another country may have a solution to the problem, God forbid.

That would make more sense than taking a victory lap because you’re not doing as badly as Central American banana republics.

Should we compare drug deaths now? To be fair?
Whatever helps you sleep.

I agree. I think its sad . I’ve already stated gun violence is tragic. Because its kids , because we see the families that are fucking devastated on tv but nobody sees the millions of families thats children are dead or basically just as dead they just don’t know it yet. We don’t see the dead people ,some children , dead on the sidewalk or the grieving families on tv when its drug related. And again . Im not saying don’t be outraged at gun crime . Im saying if you really want to truly honestly help the children, then you should be screaming equally as loud about the drug problem.

Except, this thread isn’t about helping children and the drug problem. It’s about mass shootings.

@bam0813 you should start a new thread about “where is the outrage over drug deaths”, or similar. It may be quite an eye opener for you and help separate your blending of two separate topics.
