cuz you figure if you drop a seed 1/4 inch half inch into wet soil its gonna take 3/6 days to pop.. a clone is gonna need about a week to.ten days to be rooted enough to plant the clone takes longer to root then the seedling takes to break soil. so the way im gping at it will be fairest starting point cuz it would be first real day of veg
Fairest starting point is when you start putting the beans in the soil, and putting the cuts in the plugs. seeds may pop in 3-6 days, but it can take them another 3-6 days to establish their first root sets. The fairest starting point is where some one Starts- haha. What you call day 1 of veg for either is an entirely different story.
And I have a comparison going of seed vs clone right now. They are neck and neck (not same strains, just a general comparison). In the years of comparing same strain growth seed vs clone I noticed many differences between how the two grow, and how clones of different strains change/react differently after the cloning process. Something that has been consistent over the years- Clones have produced less yield consistently, in side by side comparisons with equal treatment to their kin.
I do have to agree that I have noticed with some strains- that the clones do actually veg faster. Interestingly enough, on these same strains, they often times stretch less during flower than their seed stock sisters, and the flower size is smaller than the seed stock sisters which vegged for the same amount of time. Something that does make a difference also is the quality of clone that is taken, meaning plant health at cutting time and place taken from mother as these will determine the genetic output of the cut that is taken.
Without getting too technical- There is Tons of info out there, perhaps not directly relating to seeds vs clones, but all of the info of growing seeds and clones can be compared. My answer to the question of which is better or would I rather run- both. They are different. When I want an orange I eat an orange, when I want a lemon I eat a lemon. There is no definitive truth, everything is premised on subjective criteria.
