You ever grown a beast from bagseed?

I've heard a lot of growers talk about avoiding bagseed like it's the plague. Even on the streets, the potsmokers in non-legal places seem to think that "mid seeds" will only grow "mid plants". But we all know how ignorant nongrowers are!

I'm currently growing a little beast of my own from seemingly innocent bagseed and I'm curious on you guys' thoughts and experiences from growing bagseed.

Show me some pics and share your thoughts :eyesmoke:

The fact is some of the best and most well known strains nowadays came from bagseed. Most people avoid it because of the unknown factor. But my opinion is if the weed the seed came from was that good it is worth a try. Hell some people have even grown incredible cannabis from seeds from in properly grown cannabis.
At least with bag seed you do not have someone claiming to be a breeder charging you money for the seed lol
If it is just a couple seeds in say an ounce as appose to dozens or more I would pop it if the smoke it came from was that good.
Cheers :)

Bagseeds are just S-1 female seeds from the mother plant.

I grow strains like Thai and original diesel crosses and see a few nanners and get some stress seeds in lower buds sometimes.

I keep them and plant them regularly. They have been some of my best plants. Hell they are free feminized seeds.

Here is a Black Widow x Blue Lemon Thai S-1 from a stress seed. I even singed this sensitive girl a bit. But no seeds this time. The smoke was killer.

I grew two kinds of bag seed testers in '16. Both strains had males, so they were not from selfed mothers. I used a BST#2 male called Big & Stinky to make five strains. Those are Peach, Rotten Stinking Bastard {both BST#2 crosses}, Hurricane Head FP {B&S X BST#1 FP}, B&S X CP1 and B&S X Slo2. I used two other BST#2 males to make Hurricane Head GN {BST#2 GN X BST#1 GN}, Little Sister {BST#2 GN X BST#2 GN} and Prickly Pear {BST#2 GN X BST#2 GN}. All are decent smoke, and I'm still growing some of them, even though I have much better strains to pick from now.

Yes. I think it was either from a bag of blue dragon or blue diesel. You could def taste and smell the blueberry and chem dawg genetics. Kept cloning it for a long time. It would put a few small nanners on it in late flower but the pollen was sterile as nothing ever seeded on anything. It was a perfect sog with few leaves and branching and got dense with tons of resin. Perfect stretch, fast flower, cloned really easy and would cure fairly quick. Taste and smell was awesome. Rip bag seed plant.

I have grown bagseed a few times, never really had a bad smoke off doing it. Here is my last bag seed growIMG_20180310_120029.jpg IMG_20180219_113738.jpg

Back in the day I grew some amazing plants from bag seed... Almost 30 years ago now. Fuck I'm getting old lol

One I'll never forget was a sativa dominant that grew a dozen buds that each looked just like cattails. She took a long time to finish and like an idiot I never got a clone from her but dear God she got me ripped!

I've got so many good genetics I don't do bag seed often BUT I always save and label them from good smoke I've found them in. I will use them for a buddy starting out or for something different/surprise in the stable. Def worth hanging onto as the results often surprise you. Some nice pics above! Nice job guys.
HAPPY growing!

Rollitups been giving me shit lately. I would've been responding to all y'all too

You guys have some awesome pictures! I'm definitely going to grow out all of my seeds now lol

I'll post my single beast, still in veg though but I'm flipping her veeerrrry soon. She topped herself ear on.
It's still the dark ages in Alabama sadly lol

That plant needs food!

I found three seeds in an ounce of Arjans Haze that turned out great!
It's the only time I've ever seen seeds that were totally black.

One was in a 30 gallon cloth pot and I easily got a half pound of dry herb off her.
Totally black? I would've been too skeptical to even bother germinating (not that I'm a seed racist).

It's so rare to find seeds anymore. I've been holding onto this batch of around 40 seeds for more than five years. Granted they're in a sealed container, I can tell 95% of them are still viable too just from looking at em. I got them all during a time now forgotten while I lived in Chattanooga and could actually find people who still sold "mid". I didn't just save any old bagseed either, I always tossed the worst looking ones(white, dwarfed, too dark, etc) and didn't even bother collecting seeds from the shit grade mids.

For some reason I can't view your pics my dude. Like I said rollitups been giving me shit so I'm trying to respond before I can't access the forums for another 3 days lol.
I wouldn't bet on all of my seeds being feminized haha
Then again, they could very well be! But it's the deep black market down here in the Bible/rust belt. I'm sure there are good quality growers who will let just anybody get ahold of their feminized seeds, but it'd be throwing away good fems!
I can grow two plants if I'm feeling extra ballsy. I live close to a high school and am risking my entire livelihood by doing what I'm doing. But it's what I believe in and so far so good.

Conditions mean everything in my experience. I've grown several clones from the same mother under varying conditions, pot size, lighting, nutrients..etc. and you would never know it was the same plant. Getting to know the specific requirements will definitely improve the finished product.
Amen! That's why I wish I had more smoking friends that grew and knew even 20% of what you guys know. Respect the plant and it respects you.

Yes I have grow some killer bud from bagseeds but it's like I never marked them or "the dude" forgot the name of the strain,. or it's been so long you forgot. I think the main reason alotta peeps avoid them is they don't want unstable strains seedling up their grow. Why bother with unknown results if you've got a decent seed stock to select from?
I respect that logic, especially with a larger OP (which to me is more than 4 plants Lol I know). But under ideal circumstances I would at least have a secondary experimental grow room for the strange and mysterious :3
Besides, I'd take pride in making my own strain names! Even if I didn't know the exact phenos haha

Chemdog was found in bag seed. Grow em out and see what you can find!
Hell yeah! As long as shit doesn't hit the fan I'll be doing just that.

Rotten Stinking Bastard Lol that name fits. I hope my single beast isn't a male, but if it is I guess I'll have a lot of joint/blunt filler to sell!

bagseeds can be magic brother
That's what I'm talking about! What a freaking beauty :0

Well she served you well because you served her well! Female plants are like ladies in that aspect. Give her respect, a nice safe home, and lots of closet space then before you know it shes heavenly ;)

Respect to you brother! We don't get older we only get wiser. I bet if you could do it over you'd have made her a mother! But I know how it feels. You want to get clones but during veg you don't know if it's a male or not. And during flower you don't want to stress her Lol I know exactly. Sounds amazing though!!

HAPPY growing!
I hear that. Damn awesome you hang onto them at all! When I was still able to get bagseed I'd bury some of the iffy "mid" in some nice wild soil with a lot of sun from the south. I don't know if any of it ever grew but I'm sure someone was surprised if they found it.

Yeah this came from a critical kush bag.
That's pretty awesome! I'm jelly of that op lol

That plant needs food!
She just recovered from transplanting today! Gave her a generous watering yesterday and she is 300x happier now! I will give her some even amounts of NPK as I flip to 12/12 unless youve got any pointers on what element I should focus on?

I've got bone meal, two types of nitrogen-dominant organic fertilizer, dolomite lime, Epsom salt, pure potassium chloride, and espoma organic bloom booster which is 1-3-1 with 1% calcium and "colony forming species" of healthy bacteria/fungus

The potting soil is exceptionally good in terms of drainage (has a good amount of peat moss, perilite, composted bark, and Coco coir) but is more than likely lacking in terms of nutrients. I bought a 3 way moisture, light, and pH reader from Lowe's. But the damn thing won't even tell me the pH of the water I use after dechlorinating it for 2 days.
My lighting is pretty good, but I'm a noob at feeding her with the whole pH mystery issue.

I know a lot about cannabis in terms of theory, but I really lack in experience. It's my first grow after all :P but any advice is golden to me.

Organic nutes are great -- most of my outdoor grow is organic.
However, it takes a while for the soil to become colonized with mycorhiazal fungi & bacteria which are necessary to breakdown slow-release organic nutrients -- like bone meal.

That's why I grow "semi organic" and use synthetics after repotting and anytime I see deficiencies.
Works like a charm. 8)

I'd hit that plant with a 2.0 EC solution of Dyna Gro Foliage Pro. (~1,000 ppm)
I guarantee your plant would love it. :eyesmoke:

I'll give it a shot! I may add a bit of the bloom booster with the added cultures to give the soil new life. I did spot some
colonized mycorrhizae inside the soil I was adding so that is a plus. Thanks for the tips :)
