I have no anger twords your post to set the stage here but i would very much like an explaination of how "im a pretensious prick" when i meerly pointed out current state of affairs with the me generation being too concerned with their own life to be bothered.
I could go back & quote but there is no need,i can give you the gist of your words,people who sit back & say things like i have to work so im not going,or people who say that they are legal & thats the end of it,this attidude is bad for the cause,am i correct in my summary of your posts ?
With that being said how is my post any different ?
I pointed out what my generation did to push twords complete nation wide legalization.
Everybody protested in the 60's & 70's,protest turn out was massive & atleast 10 fold, compared to protests today where turn out is lame.
My generation staged protests allmost on a weekly basis,much more frequent than todays generations.
My generation staged protests for many single citizens behalf,i personaly attended dozens of protests concerning a single citizen being locked up in county jail awaiting a bond hearing on possesion charges,these protests took place imediately following the arrest of the person & allways took place right in front of whatever building the person was being held in,this generation never does such things.
My generation let their voices be heard the very moment the asshole cops stepped on a single persons rights,we let them know that any arrest or incarciration would cause them grief instantly,my generation was a CONSTANT THORN in the side of local police & politicians,this generation never responds quickly or for a single instance.
The modern generation is lucky if they can get people to attend a protest with a 6 month advanced notice,my generation staged over night protests where hundreds would attend & this was by word of mouth & phone,no cell phones,no pda,no internet,no flash mob ect,my generation was one where every home didnt even have a telephone yet we were able to stage & follow thru with many more protests than this generation.
My generation also followed thru on punishing those politicians who did not stand for our ideals,we voted politicians out of office with much more voter turn out than todays generation,voter turn out from todays generation is for shit compared to my generation.
City council meetings every month were packed full of citizens waiting their turn to be heard on this issue,even over the arrest of a citizen they never met,this generation is lucky if 1 out of 10,000 citizens even know how to attend a city council meeting let alone be bothered to attend,everybody i knew attended council meetings,todays generation nobody attends,i would bet most this forum has never attended council meetings on a regular basis,thats if they have ever been to a single meeting.
Why is that,explain to me who's fault it is that protestor turn out is so small,explain to me why protests are far & few inbetween,explain to me how come this generation rarely or never stages protests concerning the arrest of a single citizen,explain to me why voter turn out is so much lower than my generation,explain why this generation dont flood city council meetings using their 5 minutes to express views on legalization of mj,explain how come there isnt a protest in front of the police station when people are arrested on possesion.
I attend 3 seperate city's council meetings on a regular basis,im allowed to speak at all of them because i own property in those towns,every last council meeting i attend the youngest person there is my age,not one single man or woman younger,why is that ? I never see any young citizens there yet you say my generation did nothing.
People dont protests because it dont directly affect them RIGHT NOW,people dont protest an arrest for possesion because it dont affect them,people dont give a seconds thought to these things at all any more because it dont have an instant gratification impact where they reap the benifits on the spot,thats the me generation at work.
How can you even think my generation wasnt 1,000 times more active than this generation,have you ever watched any news reels from the 60's & 70's ? We were every where & in full force too !
And im a pretensious prick ? Again the me generation should enjoy what THEY BUILT because the current state of affairs is not what my generation left them,they destroyed what we built from non participation,greed & self centered thinking,nothing more.
Please explain to me how a generation which has more tools of communocation afforded them than any other time in history isnt directly responsible for the state of affairs,the entire middle east has changed in 2 years form protests & it didnt take decades,all it took was for their generation to get off their ass,get unified,get pissed & do something about it.
Where would the middle east be if they all said they couldnt attend cause they had to work,again & for the final time the me generation fucked this cause to death & continue to do so daily.
