Pics from the person who I got the idea to grow with 2 500 watt halogens! Please leave comments. What do you think? Good and bad welcome.

The color looks pretty blue for a halogen. They waste A LOT of energy it heat instead of light. I tried it when I didnt know any better. The lights had to be a mile away not to burn the kids(with fans) and the spectrum seemed wrong (lotsa stretching). Im uber skeptical on this...

if you've ever worked with those damn things, you know that they get hot as hell... they will heat up an entire room.... given the setup in the pic (light fairly close overhead, and a small ass fan blowing up on in), you can color me skeptical as well...

La9 and I have been known to disagree (big time) on occasion - so when we do agree - you can, pretty well, take it to the bank!

The only good thing I know about growing with Halogen light is that it produces a lot in the "Far Red" spectrum, rather useless for growing by itself. But at some mysterious point (about 710 nm, as I recall) it combines with the "normal" red growing spectrum (from your main lights) to produce "The Emerson Effect" - this literally boosts the light energy by a certain amount. I really don't remember all the details, but it's worth a Google dive!

The EMERSON - Effect

The rate of photosynthesis after exposition to light of the wave length lambda = 670 nm and lambda = 700 nm, respectively. When simultaneously exposed to light of both wave lengths is the rate of photosynthesis increased (EMERSON - effect, at the right).

This is a very brief description that I copied from my Google search.

Never seen hallogen grow before, im surprised at how its going. HOWEVER, your spending about 40$ a month (60$ during veg) on electricity. 1 month veg and 2 for flower is costing you 140$.

Everyone says you cant do it but my neibhor has been doing it for 3 years and that is what these pics are from. I also have some growing now going into the eight week. Pics are on my other posts. I do agree the buds can be denser but he was averaging 2 ounces per plant a couple he harvested more than a qp. other than a little more thickness and the plants would be a little shorter you can use them with and have a real nice product. yes it does cost more in electric but that is a monthly payment and will be paid for with the yield.
