Young plant seems stunted in growth

Hi all, Im currently doing a grow journal it states what lights and mediums ect im using so have a look at it all first, you can read it here: https://www.rollitup.org/t/herbies-lemon-kush-cfl-grow-jan-2016.895315/

Its now on the 8th day from sprouting, first 4-5 days i feel it grow quite well, but the last lets say 3 days i see very tiny to no growth at all. Got 5x 23w 6500k cfl lights on it the past few days not fed any nutes at all as the soil is a slow release (I know now this was a bad choice) Temps have been quite high at certain times of the day touching 30c, but thats just over the plant, the top of area been about 26c. i got decent airflow not been over watering apart from right at the start i may have soaked the soil a little which i dried off the next day after advice from other people on my thread. I do notice 1 root poking out of the bottom of the plant pot which is a 4" diameter and 3" deep pot. Surely it cant have filled the pot from such a tiny little plant?

All in all the plant looks super healthy, nice and green leaves and stalk....maybe as Jacob said in my journal, be patient, but i do research and see others growing under similar condition using cfl and after 8 days they got there second or third set of leaves but are really wide.

Also i notice the odd microscopic white bugs running around in the soil which i have narrowed down to possibly soil mites or spring tails, they are super hard to see and they sometimes jump. Nothing on the plant and looks like they not interested in it either which is a relief.

Im in New Zealand by the way and most brand of products found in your countries are not available here, like dinosaur land living here lol.

Any help appreciated, thanks guys n gals.

Well those top 2 sets are true leaves. They crawl a little trying to get leaves and roots and then they find their groove and rocket ship
I feel that is all i needed to hear, you think 115w cfl is too much at the moment? and what about the one root poking out of the bottom, surely i dont need to transplant yet ay?

Cheers bud, really happy you responded

They look good. They do that. They looked stalled but they are building roots. They will explode and take off. As they get more leaves they can make more energy and grow faster.

Thanks WB, you double put my mind at ease, and thanks for your advise previously. had to make a new thread as were` nt getting much input on my journal. can you confirm root poking out is ok and no need to transplant? i will try to find some soil that doesnt have this slow release ferts when i put her into bigger pot

Also switched the timer from 18/6 to 20/4 two days ago. as i thought maybe she needed a little more time under light

If it doesn't kill it when its small it can handle it when it gets bigger. The trick with time release is to keep it on the dry side.

root at bottom of plant pot...only one just poking through
I see it now. I'm not sure if that is a root from your plant or something that tried sprouting. Like a seed or something in the mix. I random seeds in my soil sometimes.

If it is the plant I would just leave it alone. It looks hardened off. It won't hurt. Poking at it might.

I see, the root isnt showing in the photo as its at the bottom end of the pot, i will keep an eye on it, but it does look like a root to me....thanks again WB
