Your Criteria: Highest THC or Most Trichs?

1. Plant health/flower time 2.effects (at least 1good sleeper, and at least 2 day time "get shit done" strains) 3.flavor 4.scent this is my priority list. Also if I see a ton of marketing I look elsewhere, good products sell themselves.

I have been working on selecting phenos with the best and highest terpene profile. So whatever I’m growing, I toss the phenos that don’t taste and smell amazing, regardless of trichomes. I’ve noticed some of my plants are “greasy”, these are the ones to keep imo, they’re always very terpy, and get me super baked compared to the non-greasy plants

I find trich texture is genetic/environmental that could well be down to terpenes thiols etc as well i wouldnt discount the non greasy type in things containing traditional hash plant type stuff however i find they tend to be more sandy/easily separated vs greasy as they been selected for that if you think about it it makes sense

The greasy plants get me the flower I’m looking for, I’m a flower consumer more than anything. I make fresh frozen bubble hash with the scraps, but there wouldn’t be a scenario where I’d be specifically keeping non-greasy phenos unless they really packed a punch. The “greasy” texture of the plant definitely comes from essential oils, terpenes, someone I crave when enjoying cannabis. It’s a personal thing

Flavor, smell = #1

Most "reports" of super-high THC strains aren't true. Just go into a recreational store and grab ANY "super" strain they have and take those buds in to be tested, independently. I'd bet none of them would turn out what they are reported to be.

I thought the whole "highest THC" thing was played out years ago. For awhile, they were pushing the 40% THC range....of course, it was all BS...but that seemed to be where the marketing competition was focusing. I, personally, tried some that were "reported" to be ~34% THC and I was braced to be higher than I have ever been. Guess what...didn't happen. *shrugs*

Thankfully, it's starting to look like some of the best and most reputable breeders are focusing on bringing back full, rich flavor to the game. That's what I will keep looking for.

EDIT: One funny thing about trichomes....back in the 70's, when the really great tasting strains were available, I can't remember a single time I saw any trichomes on the buds....not by today's standards, anyway. Obviously they were present, but they didn't stand out....and some of that weed tasted so delicious and unique, there's almost no way to describe it.
I didn't see a trichome until kush and led camera flashes convinced us our old genetics sucked. The early kush stuff was really nice, and barely had a sparkle compared to the frosty garbage of today.

Hopefully some day we'll be able to reverse the mess. Today's joke ass weed industry will be completely replaced by pharmaceuticals the moment insurance companies start paying for pharma produced synthetic distillate. It's the only reason the industry exists, to lower quality standards and set big pharma up as the world's biggest weed dealer.

That's what the public wanted, for cannabis to be scheduled as having medical value, like opiates and bezos, right? And every pot grower outside of pharmaceutical realm will be back to meth lab status. The only reason meth is illegal is because Desoxyn is medical.

First weed I ever smoked, 1995. A kid I knew stole it from his dad. I ended up with the remaining 4-5 grams. It was densely covered in trichomes. Very terpy. All the weed I’ve smoked from that day has always been frosty to varying degrees, even the sativas. Perhaps I was lucky, because I knew how to steer away from mids from a very early age. I think it’s a matter of where you’re from and who’s growing in the area tbh

Damn fine rant!!! I've been saying the same thing for years that weed should not be taxed! Why the hell should the government get a huge piece of what we worked for; they have zero investment in it. It's like the RCC selling indulgences; it's illegal but we'll let you slide as long as you grease our palms; just like the Mafia. BTW, I love your nick.
