yeah some people especially on the political and religious threads believe everything they read without question. thats no way to go through life allowing others to write your truth for you its just sad.

No. It's an animal without the brain capacity for "Love" That is the human perception of "My one and only"
The basic mentality of a cat is you feed it, care for it, and protect it, and it will hang around to enjoy it.
Sure they do things we interpret as love, but if you stop feeding it right, and the neighbor starts feeding it prime rib, you just lost your cat.

i disagree at least with regard to dogs why is it people think they can define love there is no real definition of love lol. there are many instances of animals both domestic and wild showing love for people and other animals in various ways. also people are animals to dont forget.

first you must define "love".

if your kid was fed better by the neighbors mom i bet you'd keep finding him next door.

Many signs of animals showing love? Sorry, but I disagree with that one. Plenty of signs of animals showing affection to humans in exchange for protection and food, sure.

Sure, but he would still come home every night.

Animals don't have the brain capacity for love, There entire life is devoted to survival in the hear and now. That's why in my first post, I said
"That is the human perception of My one and only" Which I'm pretty sure is what the OP meant. Now if you wanted to look at it from a different definition of love
"to need or require; benefit greatly from: Plants love sunlight."
Then sure, cats love you.

growing up i had dogs who were part of the family unit as much as anyone else i did not feed them my parents did so i was on similar or equal terms with them in the pack regardless they showed love and affection all the same they appreciate attention and care as much as anything else. of course animals respond to food as do people. a dog in the pound being mistreated does not love the person that feeds them but regardless they need the food there is a difference between need and love there not related. as an example i had a dog who i would mess with sometimes by holding a piece of steak and a ball and let it pick it would without fail she would rather play around with me than eat the stake. there were many other ways that dog in particular showed love like how it would behave when family members were sad or upset i could go on and on. not to mention things like elephants visiting the bones they pile up of dead relatives for years and years there are hundreds of similar examples of love in the animal kingdom. its funny people think there higher or any better than animals that of course leads back to religion and its various fallacy's. in early times people did not separate themselves as much with regards to feeling superior to animals they were simply other life different from us but equal. most animals are intrinsically smarter in ways than most people i know lol.

So when a firefighter drags someone out of a burning building they are in love?
with life? yes.

loves his job to risk his life doing it. no?

the term "love" is vague.

my cat LOVES fish flavored food. not so much the chicken.

when i pet my cat just right between the ears, she drools. she really LOVES when i pet her like that.

my cats LOVE chasing birds.
