that is true but define love i know lots of people who think there in love. but they would not know what it was if it jumped up and slapped them. that is one reason its complicated to quantify as there is no real worded acceptable definition of love it means different things for different people.

Zoe, my 2.5 year old(all of 5lbs) cat. I call her Crackhead because of her awesome-crazy personality.

(me and my Zoe, photo taken over 2 years ago)

I prefer cats to dogs because of many reasons:

1) Dogs are needy. They require constant attention and re-assurance from their master. Must be taken out multiple times a day to poop/pee and for walks if you do not have a fenced in dog yard or whatnot. Suuuuuuucks when its -3F.

2) They smell...every dog has that dog smell but its worse with large dogs. No matter how much you keep your house clean and cover up the scent of your dognon dog owners can usually tell immediately if you have a dog.

3) If you have a dog Vacations can suck if you cannot find a cheap "animal motel" or friend to take care of them. Not always easy to do and not always cheap as people would like

4) They eat their own poop sometimes...fucking weird dudes.

Now I don't hate dogs, I've had dogs ever since I can remember. I'm talking about 24 years of my life I remember always having a dog. But as I grew older, I like to go out and travel, and that just makes cats easier to have, plus I don't like needy animals. I like animals that want attention they'll come to you but instead of waiting on me all day like dogs do they go off and do their own thing. Its freedom that I want.(As you can tell I am no way ready for kids yet, and I'm already 27!)

But the one pictured is a different kind of cat. She's just totally awesome!

And yeah, I can vouch for cats on that fact that they feel and give love. Its just in a different way than dogs and humans.

thats false that all dogs smell simply not true and also properly raised dogs are not needy and handle alone time without issue. dogs are a true friend to man they do hundreds of very important jobs world wide and save human lives frequently often giving there own in the process a cat will not die for you if it has happened its extremely rare. with dogs its almost to be expected thats love thats loyalty and they will do this for any family member not only the ones who supply food and water. that said i enjoy cats to but they dont show affection to the same level as a dog though the gifting of dead animals they have caught to there animal owners is impressive i will say. they do show much affection in there own different way.

Hobbes your mistaking needy and attention with dogs being PACK animals. They are obvious descendents of wolves which we know run in packs. Cats are animals that rather live alone counting out lions because they stick together to breed. Every single cat doesn't need attention because all cats are solitarey animals (jaguars, tigers, oscelots, mountain lion, leopard).

I believe any animal that we domesticate, show affection and give time to will experience 'love' toward us....

Just like with a dog, aka. 'mans best friend' will always be there for you to protect you with it's life, follow you to the end of the earth and give you undivided attention without question till the day it dies...;-)

Dogs come from a wild, pack mentality deep down... but the moment we start to train and domesticate them and make them 'like us' they accept not only us as part of the 'pack' but begin to pick up characteristics of our behavior.... and believably one of them being love...bongsmilie

Cats are the same, only they seem to be a little more complicated with their affection at times... like when the snooty little buggers ignore you for a cuddle!

The more love you show an animal... the more love they will show you;-)
