Your opinion is important to me!

Please give me your opinion, ideally it will be from experience.
I'm going to create a grow space. It's not going to be very big maxing out at around 5 square feet but could be smaller.
The question is. . . . . . would I do better with a 250 watt hps or a big fat fluro?
I've got extractors allready, two 100mm RVK's.
Remember the space I quoted is MAX I can make smaller.
Thank you peolpe!

I was leaning towards the hps after doing some reading, just wanted to check without the influence of advertising.

If you go with HPS, and if the shape of your grow space allows it, I recommend you get a cool tube and use one of the fans to vent air for the cool tube only. The other fan would manage exhanging the air for the plants. You'll end up with two exhast fans and will be able to control temps better.

BTW, I flower in 4 sq. ft. with a 250w (cabinet grow), and it works great, but can get warm (especially in this simmering summer).

I vent out of my cab with a 130cfm squirrel fan-- I need the power for a proper carbon filter. I'm not sure if your fans will be able to draw enough air to include a filter. Be sure you can handle the odor!

The extraction fans I refer to are rated at moving 175m3 of air per hour, you can also get carbon filters especially made for these units. Got me thinking about a cool tube with one end fitted to the exhaust fan and the other end open and sucking out of the grow room, the grow room would be fed air through the other fan with air fitted to a particle filter. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm????????????

good idea. thats what id do but ive heard good things about veggin with those 6 panel floros
I'm using cfls for seedlings/ clones until plants have a little more growth. I understand that it's better to have one intense light source as opposed to many lower intense light sources.
I also dont intend to veg for long, or even at all. . . the absolute minimum!
Thank you StonedBlownSkiller.

If you're talking 40sq.ft. with a 175m3/hr fan (EDIT-- I now have read the earlier post a bit more carefully) which is bout 80 cfm, I personally think you'd be better off with two passive intakes (one for the light and one for the room) and each of the fans handling a separate exhaust. The cool tube opening may not be positioned optimally for air circulation; also the cool tube works best using cooler air from outside the growroom.

It would probably work either way, I'm just saying what my approach will be with my next grow space.

Ok so if I understand this correctly you want max lumens in smallest space?
Then I would choose the 250 watt hps over the fluro. . . . ahh I see the rvk extractors in your post, decent bit of kit them.

what are you trying to do. grow a plant to get a quarter ounce if that??
are you talking about not vegging for long or even at all would make him get only a quarter per plant? because im sorry that is just not true i do all my grows 12/12 from seed and just recently bought an hps but i got over 2 in a half ounces out of 2 plants grown on 12/12 from seed with CFL the plants still veg while there on 12/12..it wont start flowering until it gets big enough not saying that 2 in a half ounces is impressive but he will deff get more then a quarter per plant.

Thanks!
Some people are quite cynical when talking about lower wattage set ups. . . . . guess they must all be the dealers then!
