Zippo vs. Petrol Lighter

So which one?

TBH people go on about it tasting different if you light it with butane and stuff... I think that's bullshit, you'd have to have homing taste buds to taste the butane and petrol etc... If you sparked up with it

Obviously the more well known and reliable brand is Zippo, but some of there lighter ranges go up to well in advance of £40, Petrol Lighter's are only £2.99, and they look almost the same as a Zippo, and it's mechanism is based on the same principle as a Zippo

So if your just starting out, which one's better, and what are the pro's and con's of each

I have a Zippo, have for a couple of years now. The lifetime guarantee sold it to me.

I like using matches.

but it doesn't matter what you use to light it in all honesty.

it's still gonna get you stoned.

I can taste the difference and trust me for someone who can its fuckin' awful to get a mouthful of a zippo lit bowl.

I've owned a few real zippos and well ended up giving them away as I can't stand that fuckin' flavor.


I just stick with a butane torch as you can get them for 6 us dollars here vs spending 20-30 on a new zippo.


As for the cheap butane lighters I don't taste any difference between bic and the rest.


But on the subject of cheap knockoff of a zippo vs a real zippo its more the real zippo just will hold up better over time then the other.

once i got real desperate and used a magnifying glass and solar puffed on a water bong... actually worked pretty good...

Zippos are terrible for a bong you get all that nasty taste for J's they are fine. I like those butane torch lighters those things are awesome and don't burn you.

Personally, I hate the taste of lighter fluid in my smoke. But to each his own. I go with good ol' Bic's. They last forever, and, well, dont taste like shit.

I used a Zippo once and all I could taste was lighter fluid.
Matches taste like sulfur
I always use a Bic lighter.

zippos taste gross over bud. for ciggs they work and taste beautiful. its a love hate relationship.

I thought I was the only one to use matches. You have to be dilligent to make sure all of the starter burns off. If you light it immediatly the taste is sulfur and gas. If you burn for few seconds and burn that shit off you can get a really good taste with a wooden match.

Zippo's are terrible

I use a Bic 99.999999% of the time.
