Hey guys, just got back from the Ruahine Ranges ruahine.jpg This place isn't for the weak lol, those mountain tops are 1700m, yesterday I got to 1150m high. Man that place is hard to get into! massive Wapiti/red hybrid stags up there, that's me for the roar  work hard play hard I guess.

Here's the Malawis today - 7 days veg from last pic
malawi3.jpgmalawi1.jpgmalawi2.jpg A few bugs on the plant that need to be dealt with but no biggie.

Here's the Panamas
panama4.jpgpanam2.jpgPanama1.jpgpanama3.jpgAlso needs some neem oil to keep those bastards away!

JTW - If that frisian started flowering before 2014 I think she will finish at the end of february because it's only a 7-8 week strain - I had an afghani flower 2nd week of jan and harvests 15-20th
march.
I reckon 1st week of march at the latest, quick strain man! I hope she purples up likes she's supposed to. Mean mold resistance too.

Fladge - nice plants mate, I think the bud must have been stressed, not hermied otherwise you'd have heaps of seeds lol. What's your latitude man?(wikipedia your city if you don't know)
South island grows are always are fun to watch, are you gonna put them in the ground?. Keep us updated man, the more kiwis the better.

Letstrip - What's the weather been like down there? Hawkes bay is freakin hot man - as soon as you drive in there it's like the massive sun blaze hits you. TGA hasn't hit 30 yet, 29.4 though.
I just buy the potash from switched on, have you been back to your plant? i hope it's a she lol.

Hey Crazy Kiwi420, hope all is well. I've just read through this thread and have been inspired. I now have 50 taskenti. Going to hold onto them til next summer comes though.

Thanks for the suggestion to try them out.

Thanks dankdope,

yeah na they still bred with the reds up there and can get bloody massive!, carrying the back legs out is a no deal for even the strongest people. My dad shot a nice tidy 12 up there quite a few years ago and it definitely had wapiti in it - more of a milky brown colour than reddy brown. The only pure wapiti left is down in fiordland aye? one day I'll have to go down there and make a trip.
I reckon they need to stop shooting the pure wapiti for the moment and kill off all the hybrids. a 900lb stag is insane!.
Stupid ass Mongrel Mob lol, I wouldn't back down to those idiots! ha. Yeah no point making more tracks to your spot if there's rain, I'm loving this season so far.

Damn 50 fem seeds is a lot!, should have got some regular though for breeding - can you grow all year round there? you could try put a couple late ones out now for some smoke.
Can you do any indoors or na? mate they will get monstrous in a full season in aussie! I reckon 13ft giant indicas at least and you're talking massive yields too. are you growing them in BC next season or aussie?. If you're in australia, look into getting some Malawis too - 20ft plants on a full season, 4lb minimum yield per plant I'd say.

Hey Crazy Kiwi:

How are ya man.

I took your suggestion and ordered fifty taskenti. But what's important to me is less of a headache come trimming time. I need hard dense buds. I am talking Australia. I'd love to see them out in the wild. So many snakes there though eh? Is taskenti hard and dense or is it puffy and fluffy? What about the malawi? Hard and dense?

Have you watched tracker yet? If not do so man. stunning nz.

Have a good one.

Hey CK hope you had a good time in the Ruahinies! Looks nice as. Therye directly opposite the Tararua ranges which is right on my door step almost. Thats were most people hunt around here its alot similar to the Ruahinies. Big snow caped mountains over winter and crisp and clear through summer. Awesome stuff.

Those plants are looking so good! Amazing how big they've gotten in 7 days. Malawis look like they're bushing up nice as and the panamas look like theyl be tall. Mine was algood when I last checked it im heading back tomorrow so Ill post some pictures and an update.
I finally trimmed the willows back so now its gets more sun  Might buy some of that potash or just use what i got in my fire. The guy on that video series that JTW posted used regular potash so might just have to give it ago.

Was actually just looking on met service at how damn good your weather has been! Its been rather poor down here mate just cloudy and windy with sunny spells. Had a decent couple of decent sunny days and managed to get real burnt while I was camping this week. Been trying to go fly fishing and spinning but the winds just been insane and the rivers are still recovering from the last floods. The whole time I was camping it just blew like crazy. Its usually alot better here this time of year so Im not sure whats up lol

you fly fish, man thats so cool. im trying to get into it myself but im really struggling. i am yet to even get a bite on a fly. im targetting aussie bass but the terrain i fish doesnt lend itself well to fly fishing. too many trees and stuff overhanging the water and i spend all day pulling hooks and line out of tree branches. its mighty frustrating.

Yeah it's beautiful up there, I'm off to the Kawekas soon which is close to you? those mountains in the distance og the ruahine pic gets snow caps in march/april - it gets bloody cold up there in the winter, even the summer. I have a feeling this roar will be good. good ganja, good stags, fast motorbikes is my idea of fun

Yeah the Panama are starting to look good now, I hope I get at least 2 females - c,mon red pheno!. I trimmed some tree leaves back and snapped a few branches to let some more light into the panama spot although it already get 10+ direct sun hours. yeah I wouldn't use potash yet, get as much nitrogen into the plant while it's still vegging. look into earth juice catalyst too - it replicates an organic tea and can be used for all stages of growth.

We've been having some nice spring weather lately but definitely not full on summer yet, I think it will be another delayed summer again which is good for finishing off plants!.
I'm loving this rain though, no need to water whatsoever - we're getting lots of rain but lots of sun too, perfect balance for veg season.
I hate wind on holidays mate, sucks when your tent is blowing all over the place. how tall is your plant now? hopefully it will start showing sex soon - my afghanis last year showed sex in the middle of jan. The met service forecaster said the 'real' summer weather is yet to come  I'd take a shit vegg season over a shit flower season anyday! nothing worse when the weather turns bad at the end of march and goes on a shit storm bender for 2 weeks!.

Buckets - Hey man, everything's all good mate, you?. I bet your burning your ass off over in aussie!. My Tashkent mother is only 3 weeks into flower and cannot judge anything yet but from what I've seen they're a hard dense, good flower to leaf ratio and not to mention its a pure freakin hasplant! my mother is already getting frost on her fan leaves and not just at the start either! - it's frosting up about 3/4 the way down the fan leaves. This plant is already screaming potency mate and will turn into a bloody monster over there in aus, give it a full season from the beggining of october, looks to be a very nice yielder too. I'm not too sure about the malawi eaither but from what i've seen they're long dense resinous colas, Ace Malawi is way more dense than the wild Malawi in Africa and not to mention it's almost waterproof with very high mold resistance - please grow Ace Malawi in aussie bro! on a full season you're talking incredible yields!.

Yeah mate, kiwi growers unite alright! - I thought I'd start a proper NZ outdoor thread because there's not enough of our outdoor ganja being shown off.It still gets way hotter down there in the summer than it does up here, I'm real excited to see some south island sativas mate! some good skills to pull off sativas down there. What strains are they? I want to be the first person to grow weed in fiordland! I wonder if it could be done? it's one of the wettest places on earth  you could breed some hardy genetics at the bottom of the south island.I thing the Tashkent strain would suite south island the best, a giant indica hashplant - the breeders reckon it's the strongest indica they've worked with and the climate it comes from is similar to south island.

One month veg update.
Malawi
Tashkenti

Panama - They're looking way healthier now and have thoroughly sparyed them with neem oil as with the Malawis too.
broad leaf pure sativas

Gigantic broader sativa leaves(seen this before with african plants).

What do you guys think? They're looking real good to me.
I planted a tashkent clone this morning, for breeding purposes and it's the latest I've ever put a plant out, 10th jan!.

yeah my hawaiian sativa had massive fans with real thick indica looking fingers in veg but as soon as it hit flower it completely changed and had some of the thinnest leaves you have ever seen

Yeah I bet the panamas will do that too. once pure sativas are in flower they get thinner and thinner - the Malawi mother has leaves 1/3 or 1/2 the size of your pinky!

they all look excellent. it seems there is definitely some excellent growers over there in kiwi land. not to mention the awesome lifestyles you all have by the sounds of it.

Sure is beautiful mate, the kawekas are closer i think they're half way between here and Tauranga Id say. Sounds about right for snow capping around march April although it might be a little latter here but defiantly are right through winter. Oh yeah and good ganja, good stags and fast motorbikes sounds pretty damn fine if you ask me  You gotta go for a hunt in the Tararuas sometime man its beautiful.
SDC11520.jpg

Damn those panama have really taken of! You've got a mad spot getting 10 hours of light. I reckon youl get one male and 2 females but hey who knows and damn your going to have some sexy plants if you get red phenos lol Is it algood to remove damaged leaves and stuff like that? Also there are two tiny little leaves at the bottom almost were the stem starts that just dont get enough light and have been a center meter for agggggges probably a month and a half can I just remove them?
Probably a delayed summer id say things are only just starting to clear up down here. Met service is predicting good weather for awhile down here finally yuuus I think summer might finally be starting/back properly down here lol
I reckon you can still get alot hotter up your way and even here It gets hotter than what it is. Your weather is primo though because you dont even need to water them  Wind on a holiday foes sucks the sound of the tent waveing around is awful.

My plants probably just over a meter in height id say. The toping has kept it down which has worked out quite well because the bottom stems have had time to catch up so id say it will be bushier now which is good. I hope the "real" summer does come becasue its defiantly not up to its full potential yet  The two new tops look algood and there is a nice big healed strong knuckle where it broke. ( Check the pics) Its showing some pre flower but Im not going to say male or female yet until it shows more its hard to tell. Who ever mentioned that plant showing alternating internodes within 40 - 60 days was right because at around day 53 it showed alternations and now all the new branches have alternating internodes so I guess its getting more sexually mature lol Its good as to see more kiwi growers! Kiwis unite hahaha Itl be awesome to see some south island grows. Well heres some pictures everyone.

Just over a month since its been in the ground:

Sure do, so much fun! Its defiantly not an easy hobbie mate Ive had my line caught on bushes, and almost anything youd find at a river lol Mainly becasue the fish are hidden in deep spots that are hidden close to banks or trees and Ill cast to far and get it caught in a bush or be or itl get caught in the bush behind me its VERY frustrating but it defiantly pays of once you get them. Id like to catch a bass or a barramundi  Ate some when I went to aussie (Sydney) once and really enjoyed it. We only get rainbow trout and brown trout over here but that's algood NZ is a world renowned trout fishery  Keep trying its worth it once the work pays of.

haha yeah its the bushes behind that get me. being a spinner normally im not used to checking behind me for that extra casting room. i will get a bass one day on fly and i will pot it here for all to see no matter how big or small. i cant wait for my first fish on fly. it will be that much more rewarding on fly after all the work i have put in.

dont worry once i get the hang of this fly stuff a NZ fly fishing adventure is definitely on my bucket list.
