By the time civil rights were enacted, people from all over had been calling for it for decades. It took our government awhile to catch up. If not for the loud squeaky efforts of LBJ and Daddy Gore, we would have had them in the 50's and a lot of the ugliness of the 60's would have been avoided.

You give the government credit for ending practices in this country when it was the government that fought to keep them in place.

I've got to come in on the side of ginwilly here.

I live not too far from a fairly large tourist town. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

There was a bar-b-q place that opened up several years ago. It was full of Confederate Civil War memorabilia. General Lee, the stars and bars flag, that kind of stuff.

I went to the main high school in this county. There were about 1600 students in my highschool, less than 20 were black. It is a VERY white county, and very few blacks go there on vacation.

You can seriously go days without seeing black people.

Well, eventually this guy, probably just joking, put a "colored only" sign over the water fountain.

The town revolted inside of a week. People even took large heavy objects, like logs, and other large, heavy stuff, all over his parking lot, and blocking his door. He removed it, but no one ate there after that, and he went out of business.
