That's actually pretty cool! That's when I notice my DSG is a little jerky... low RPM's, so it'll be interesting to see how this works.Beef, Acura is the only dual clutch with a torque converter? http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1088567_honda-new-turbo-engines-8-speed-dct-with-torque-converter
No they are not. Not even close.
Dual clutch gearboxes don't have torque converters.
Dual clutch gear boxes are TWO SEPARATE MANUAL GEARBOXES controlled by a computer. Two separate clutches, one for odd gears, one for even gears. There is very little in common with an automatic transmission.
Hyundai doesn't make a dual-clutch. Neither do most manufacturers for any type of production vehicle.
It's pretty much limited to VW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, etc.
Launch control in most cars just makes the engine hold at a certain point, basically it's holding the clutch and gas, then dumping it (albeit in a controilled fashion). It knocks a substantial amount of time off of the 0-60 time.
lol....dual clutch transmissions are automatic transmissions. they are not hydraulically controlled but they serve exactly the same function, to relieve the operator of the need to learn to use a clutch and select gears with thier brains and hands.
the little paddles make sense on a race car with a tiny cockpit, dangerously high speeds and bulky fire retardant suits. in your acura they are superflous gimmickry.
hyundai doesnt make dual clutch transmissions, but ricers do add paddle shifting transmissions to all manner of cars, including hyundais, hondas, toyotas and other shitbox economy cars. their love of paddle shifters is part of their douchery.
just like adding a dozen superfluous gauges to the instrument cluster, carbon fiber hoods with chrome doggets, ram air scoops and spurious "badging".
often the paddle shifters are attached to perfectly ordinary hydraulic automatic transmissions, and serve no purpose save to make the ricer feel like he is "2 Fast and 2 Furious" for automatic shifting, when in truth, most of them dont even know how to operate a synchronized manual transmission, much less an un-synchronized one.
when you see a hyundai with paddle shifters on the wheel, you can bet your bottom dollar you will also find an oversized chrome exhaust tip, R-Type badging, Holley or Edelbrock stickers, and "low profile, high performance" tyres attached to that Elantra.
also check the cup holder for red bull, or monster "energy" drinks.
all those listed track times presume a competent driver, who knows how to doubleclutch, knows his engine and gearbox, doesnt stall it out or overshoot his gearing and clunk it from 2nd into 5th.2002 gsxr 1000
0-60 in Under 3 secs.......not that I've ever done it on mine.
only computer maps the fuel.
Personally I like sequentials...I can launch then just keep pressure on the shifter and when the rpms are juuuuust right it will just slip into gear no clutch.
I miss the good old days when racing didn't have computer controls.
I am learning a lot guys keep it up.
You can manually change gears to effectively brake faster and partially accelerate through a turn. It wins the race but ruins your gears and engine. At least you keep your brakes.all those listed track times presume a competent driver, who knows how to doubleclutch, knows his engine and gearbox, doesnt stall it out or overshoot his gearing and clunk it from 2nd into 5th.
real racing doesnt have computer controls, the driver runs his car, and isnt simply a navigator while the computers do the driving.
thats why i like rally racing, its not hours of boring engine noise while rednecks or effete euro-posuers turn left over and over and over.
i manually change gears all the time. it doesnt ruin my gears cuz i know how to shift. You can manually change gears to effectively brake faster and partially accelerate through a turn. It wins the race but ruins your gears and engine. At least you keep your brakes.
Are you shifting from 6th to 5th going over 120 mph to let the engine slow you? That will immediately redline you. A professional racecar driver will do that to win the race. His mechanics love him. Even street racers are constantly fucking over their car. That's why they pick ricers. Easy for dumb ass 2 fast 2 furious to fix on their own cheaply. You often drive for pink slips?i manually change gears all the time. it doesnt ruin my gears cuz i know how to shift.

very well, i will replace that word with Ginch, Minge, and Beefcurtains.Hey. No saying cunt in here; this is Politics, fer grief's sake.
"Gentlemen. You can't FIGHT in here; This is the WAR ROOM!"
"Real racing" AKA F1 racing the craziest of the crazy, DO use computer asssited transmissions. They're 'semi-automatic' for a reason.all those listed track times presume a competent driver, who knows how to doubleclutch, knows his engine and gearbox, doesnt stall it out or overshoot his gearing and clunk it from 2nd into 5th.
