and yet russia isnt hanging homosexuals, but they are pilloried for their "repression" while iran's hangings go unmentioned.

why does the left rail against a speech code they dont like, yet do their damnedest to institute speech codes that suit their agenda here, while they remain silent on public executions in a country that they have decided deserves "victim" status?

it's a triple standard of ultimate hypocrisy.

I don't know why disdain for Russia's treatment of gays has to be limited to the left. I don't even see how Iran got into this. I also don't recall anyone saying they had no issue with Iran's treatment of homosexuals. Russia's policies just happen to be a hot-button because of their rather new laws; and the fact that there's been a rash of assaults on homosexuals that the orthodox church seems to be supporting. The fact that Iran isn't where the winter olympics are occurring might also have something to do with where the outrage is currently directed. Things tend to get more attention when they are part of a major story.
