clone from a clone

Oh really :??: lol Please do explain this to me :??:

Not sure how to say this any differently to help you understand, but cloning from clones is a mainstream activity that has been done for decades thus is a normal practice.
Dr. Jekyll

It's all dannyboy602's fault, he jinxed the thread by saying "everyone agrees", I had no choice but to stir the pot
But after saying that, we still believe there is a limit to how many generations can be cloned from clones, but you can believe this or not

Not sure how 2 say this but wasn't you one that previously stated it couldn't be done, and or that a clone of a clone and so on would loose their potency :??: Trust me, I didn't start growing yesterday.. lol

I got curious and conducted a search, but little info out there. From Subcool's blog on CC...

Sure, if you clone some old tired root-bound mother with woody stems who knows what could happen, but as long as the cutting is make up of healthy cells we have never encountered a problem."

And here's a little article by Ed Rosenthal...

There are clone only strains all over.
Never witnessed genetic drift.
I Have fucked some plants up
but I would feel like an asshole if I
blamed the plant for that.
Could it happen? I guess
Do you know any one who it has
happened to?
I bet not.

Any info I give is based on what I would be comfortable doing.
Please get other opinions.

In nature plants don't live in plastic buckets but at my house they do or they get the f**k out.

I agree, I know a grower who started to grow commercially about 3-4 years ago (before I knew them) just for profit not even a smoker themselves. They were newbies and continually took several clones from Permafrost mother plants choosing the healthiest to flower and keeping the weaker clones for new mothers. After about 3 years they started to get hermies very easily and didn't get the same yields anymore.

IMO as long as clones are taken from younger healthy parts of the plant there shouldn't be problems for a very long time. Just thought I would share the anecdotal info, I realize it doesn't prove anything and I don't claim to be an expert on keeping clones healthy for years and years.

Peace

I've cloned some plants every 2 months since march 2011
They still kick ass.
Cloned the clones and new plants from seeds.
Some clones just don't take well to cloning
but overall lost count on my 3 year old clones.

Just cloned them last week.
I love my diy bubble cloner.

I hear that.. I have a few that's well over 3 years old now. I just re vegged a few of the mothers, took cuts off ech of them due to lack of space at the time. I then dwarfed them to keep them stunted for a good while so I could work on a few of my F1's, and other strains. Gotta kick my ASS into overdrive if we want to get our seed bank up and going come spring..
