Good, thoughtful post...

I have to admit that if I were confronted with a clear and present threat to myself or my loved ones, I would NOT choose a rock over a gun.

Regardless, I think that any form of gun control is misguided, albeit well intended.

In order to address this issue with any degree of seriousness, we need MORE criminal control instead of trying to control deadly inanimate objects which need to be used by humans in order to achieve their deadly potential.
Very well said. Rep+

If you want to stand there and let me wind a 3 pounder between your eyes, I guarantee you it won't matter how fast it was going.

It will be going plenty fast enough. And you pansies that were raised by pansies really didn't have much fun, I guess.

I was raised with rocks in Texas. And my brother and I taught each other how not to blink.
Yep.
My brother and I used randomly load snap caps....no flinching.

I agree, that criminals need to be controlled, and reducing the amount of criminals will reduce crime rates. Reducing the amount of criminals is a different topic, but as I've pointed out earlier in the thread, there could be easy ways to help prevent criminals from having access to illegal firearms.

What is the percentage of criminals vs non criminals in Canada?
If every one arms (or simply possibly may be) unrestricted as criminals do, who would try anything....do you not think that most ppl do the right thing most of the time on their own?

Where do the criminals get the guns from? The illegal guns....

They were either smuggled, or were stolen.

By 'restriction on firearms' when you're talking about my stance, I take it you mean requiring locked gun cases, or cabinets, or gun locks, trigger locks, etc., when the gun isn't readied to be used, or in use? That's the only thing I advocate.

Seems people would rather have a trivial liberty (that honestly, if you're a responsible gun owner you have a safe place to store your firearms anyway) than actually help deter crime. I just don't understand that attitude. Meh.

It seems like people are arguing for the right to leave their firearms laying around, loaded, when they're not around.... Why would anyone argue for that?

Same "place" they get their drugs from....the illegal drugs.

Shit dude ever been arrested and had less dope entered into evidence than you got caught with?

Edit:

Also you're pretty cool even though we tend to disagree a lot, I like your gun choices and shit too but I am aware you take the position of gun control in general for the "unfit"....correct me if I am wrong or?

That being said and contingent on its accuracy, what are the "rules" of fire arm ownership as it relates to cannabis consumption in Canada?

Genuinely Curious.

There is no legal market in the USA for cocaine and heroine for criminals to steal from. That comparison doesn't equate, but then again there isn't really anything that equates. Nothing else is legal to buy except for criminals, and gets smuggled in or stolen from legitimate owners, for illegal use by said criminals.

BAHAHAHAHAH just saw your new siggy!!!!

It's a keeper. :)

Notice I did not say "hard" illegal drugs and that you left cannabis and other schedule 1 substances....hell even schedule 5 cough syrup off you list.

Of course it doesn't equate if you define "illegal drugs" in some random haphazard way....is this why you single out heroin and cocaine and the US? Did you see my edit?
Cannabis is a schedule I substance in the States and its use renders you "unfit" to purchase a gun on the bg form.....so whats up with this specifically in Canada?

Same or?

Actually no, I didn't see the edit. lol

1 sec...

EDIT: In Canada, you get a PAL or POL (possession/acquisition license) or (possession only license) by completing a course on safety and how to handle, load, clean, and store firearms. There's a written test at the end. You can also challenge the course, which I did. I was in the Infantry for 4 years. And no I was never deployed. lol

There's the RPAL for 'restricted' firearms, e.g. pistols and AR's (FUCKING DUMB RULE). It's a separate course, costs more money, and basically you can't use them for anything except at the range. Bullshit.

Anyone but criminals can get the license, over 14 years of age that is. There are storage regs in Canada, but I don't particularly agree with them. They are too stringent. When guns aren't in use or being cleaned, they must be kept lock, unloaded, or with a trigger guard, unloaded. I think that if I want to have a loaded gun on me at all times when I'm home I should be allowed to do that, or keep it close. (Although there's absolutely no need to where I live.)

Ok, so I just re-read and you asked regarding cannabis consumption; and I honestly don't know. I'm sure it's not good. lol

Drugs; Ok, we can look at any drug, but it's not really going to give us a good estimation of how the gun trade works. More Americans have guns than desirable Rx pills, or drugs that could be stolen during a home invasion.

Also, thanks man, you seem like a nice guy too. I also like my gun choices :D

It might.

It might deflect off. Depends how it hits, and it depends on the rock... To my knowledge, bullets don't deflect off heads.

EDIT: Brett Favre can throw a football @ 63mph. This is widely considered the fastest throwing arm in football. A football weighs 14-16oz.

Now double that weight, and throw it harder/faster than a professional athlete, and you've got Doer..... the rockodile hunter.
Colin Kaepernick has been clocked at over 70.

Or you could just use a gun, and never go near them.

But why would anyone want a gun if rocks are just as deadly? Why dd we bother with spears, then arrows, and muskets, and finally guns? Shit, rocks were the end all be all of deadly force.
Because we are not talking about murder, you vast dumb ass. We are talking about protection. The 2nd A is about man killing for protection.

1 million saves a year....bone head. I have posted this time after time and I am sure you have read it. So, you ignore. we are down to 16,000 gun deaths a year, but you won't aclniowlege how many of those were self defense. And you won't wake up to the fact that also, a million times a year, no shots fired, but protection still happened. Brandishing a firearm is self defense. It chills your ball sack but I doubt you have been on the receiving end, have you?

I can't protect myself with a rock, without smashing someone. Not so a gun. But you surely remember how you began this. You said, only guns kill from a distance. How stupid can you get? That is what the entire rock discussion is about if you even remember. You want to cheer the calls for Reason, when you don't have any.

And you won't open your dead eyes to the fact that yOU have a gun for protection, will never murder anyone and yet you, hand wave for Reason, with the Saganists.
