Definitely. I was actually looking up a calculator for air volume and the such. Looking at some carbon filters ,DIY and production, and decided not to skimp here. It's a pretty tightly packed area and smell is my biggest enemy. Definitely will give the lights that six hours rest. That six hour cool period should help me out with temp. Do plant produce any more or less odour than during the day?We would recommend only running your veg room 18/6 or 20/4 as there is little to no value in running 24/day beyond the first 2 or 3 weeks, it cost more for electricity and needlessly consumes the bulb's lifespan.
If you really have your heart set of hydro, why not try a hempy, as it's easy and forgiving, KISS and learn to dial in your environment

Nice setup but how are you going to vent outside if you live in an apartment?
do you have plans for a carbon filter to control the smell?
Mr. Hyde
Use a carbon filter as a scrubber in the area.
Use a second carbon filter on exhaust.
Use an inline ozone generator on exhaust to eliminate any odor that remains. Minimum 20' of duct required to mix o3 with stench.
Even in Colorado I use this redundancy. Why? Thieves! I don't wanna have to get the meat grinder out.
Definitely going to add co2. I see the difference in the grow journals for the ppl that do and don't. Massive weight differences. Grabbing a 20lb tank I think 50lbs is overkill. Plus there's stairs .It may be enclosed, but you still have to bring in a fresh supply of co2 and vent out the o2. You can do this either by using a passive system (intake and exhaust) or by using co2 in your grow.
I will stop there.... your move.
Where I live the landlord doesn't come unless you place a work order. Although two weeks ago I guy walked in and my girl and I thought we were getting robbed. Was a maintenance man that almost got railed. Lucky I was medicated. Thanks for the bringing that up something else to add to my list of "Grow Room Etiquette and Procedures"I wouldn't worry about the electric company.. especially since the hot weather is coming soon and everyone will be running their AC's all day long. I'd be more worried with nosey landlords coming to fix stuff in your apartment. As far as odor control, I can't help with that because I've never had to worry it. Good luck with your grow!
Natural gas? Co2 generator?Definitely going to add co2. I see the difference in the grow journals for the ppl that do and don't. Massive weight differences. Grabbing a 20lb tank I think 50lbs is overkill. Plus there's stairs .
Haven't researched enough about natural gas. Co2 is easy to get where I'm at. Im blessed with trailer supplies and welding stores who sell CO2 for the low lolNatural gas? Co2 generator?
Thanks for the knowledge man. I see how important it is to be a good neighbour. They really can make or break you. Whose to say that these neighbours know you grow but don't tell just because you're not the douche from downstairs. It's scary but if you believe in something you fight for it. As for pest control I have not researched anything about it at all. Thanks for the heads up.Besides the cops, the local burglars, the landlord, the neighbors you should be prepared for insect pests. Have the basic organic pest controls on hand "before" the plants become le plat principal for fungus gnats and spider mites. I would go with some Azamax and have it on hand from day one. Floramite SC by the ounce from Ebay for killing and maybe a Hotshot No Pest Strip and some of those sticky yellow pads to trap flying gnats. Snaps is right about living in the right State. But, if you do it right and keep the odor down you should be okay. I know a guy East Coast who moved into a low income apartment complex where there were at least five other dealers growing and selling - which pretty much eliminated the bad neighbor risk - no one talked.
Pot friendly couple... No complainants present your honor!Another thing is "significant other" or friend's significant other. Look what happened here on RIU as we speak: https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/515481-blue-lemon-thai-4.html. Because the FEDS can take stuff from you in a bust our "partners" can put a screeching halt to your grow operations out of fear. I haven't done a hydro grow so maybe someone else has a better handle on the pests to be ready for.
This is a concern, you need to lock your apartment door to keep out uninvited guessWhere I live the landlord doesn't come unless you place a work order. You can only give people so much advice. If he wants to take on a full on hydro commercial like grow(because who the hell needs CO2 if you're growing doing a small personal grow) in his apartment then that ultimately is his choice and whatever consequences come from it.This is a concern, you need to lock your apartment door to keep out univited guess

We find it bewildering why you would think bringing in a bag of soil would rasie red flags but yet you don't seem concerned about bringing in a tank of CO2.
No offence, but you seem to want to start your first grow as sophistcate as they come, you may want to consider learning to walk before entering the Boston Marathon.
We had suggested a hempy as a great way to learn hydro, but maybe that's just too elementry for your lofty goals.
