Nice got a lot of advice thanks guys!!

Fresno, thanks for the advice that's what I am thinking. If I had a bigger area I could expand on the screen and probably not be too much of a problem. I could always get a second screen to support the buds once flower starts but might be more of an issue...

Treeman, that is impressive! From the looks of those I might have to re-think what I got going on here cause those are huge! I like the idea of wrapping them in a cage then laying a big screen over the top though, seems like an easier setup to me.

Avatar, I have never used trellis before... I used poles last year and just tied the colas up so they wouldn't have that "Gangster lean" but I was out there everyday finding more branches to tie up, then come harvest time it was a B****! And with the wind I get here they blow all over the place when they are that top heavy, so something has to be done to support them. With the trellis, is it like a scrog with out the weaving of the plants? I am assuming it is just there to support the plant? Any advice is appreciated.

TWS, Yeah one started to barely flower but there has been no progression... Same thing happened to one of my plants last year but turned out fine after a couple weeks and grew to still be 6ft tall with great smoke and high yield, so I was going to roll with it as long as it didn't get worse. If it does it will be replaced with a new one. Thanks man.

Buck, that is what I wanted to do if I couldn't Scrog it. I would still like to use the structure to support the plants even if I don't scrog, even if I have to re-build it some thats fine with me. I think keeping them contained in an area like that would be beneficial come flower time.

If I have a strong structure around 3ft to just keep the plants contained I could always add on (if necessary) to it and make another level for a support... Any thoughts on this approach anyone? Keep the structure and ditch scrog attempt? Use some trellis to support instead...

Appreciate it everyone! Grow, Grow, Grow!!!
lol I'm avatar now?
....lots of people here use them....It not perfect but works well...cut the trellis down when you harvest...If you store bamboo pole inside during the off season you can get 2-3 season from them...

LOL!!!!! Sorry Senor, you already know the reason for that mistake... :bigjoint:!! My bad can't believe I did that, thanks for the advice. I'm thinking I am going to ditch the scrog idea and come up with some sort of plan to keep them contained. For the time being I think I will keep the structure there and let the ladies grow see how they fill out. It is easy to move so no problem there. Couldn't I just use that structure with a screen on top for a support? I think it might work since I won't be weaving them in the screen, just guiding the branches through the squares instead? I don't know just a thought since it is already there...

MHZ, I thought about that a few years ago but it gets so hot here in the summer I am afraid they might get scorched. If I did I would have to add some sort of exhaust fan and I really don't want to do that. Thanks for the suggestion though bro!

Thanks again!

I have two greenhouses. Made out of shade clothe.. it gets 105+ here in Fresno County. The plants love the shade cloth. It still allows for good ventilation. I also add a good oscillating fan in the greenhouses for good measure though. When they start flowering I just throw 6 mil plastic sheeting over the top instead of shade cloth. For some reason I feel as if the plastic sheeting will allow more sunlight through to help fatten up the buds. Just a thought. And that is a good idea, using the structure and adding trellis netting to it for bud supports.

Thanks Fresno, If I end up building one sometime soon I will keep that in mind. The temps here are similar sometimes into the 107+ range, we just get heat waves with 100+ temps for a week or more those are the times I worry about. And I am going to keep that an open option this year Decepticon.
So after all the advice from everyone, I am going to keep the structure with the screen on top and use it for support instead of Scrog. If Scrog still looks like an option later in the year I will test it out, but if the plants are getting way to big I am going to ditch the idea. Thanks again to everyone for the advice, and please keep it coming if anyone else has any input on this.

You could just LST, And get the same increase in yield...same thing for the most part...it's promoting growth to all the underside/lower bud sites...I have two outside LST'd..all these two techniques do is allow an even canopy of kolas...and promote as I said the lower growth....just bend NOT CREASE the top to a 90' angle, and as you see by tomorrow it'll bend again toward the sun..you see the even canopy starting...more then one way to skin a cat bro!

Mind you, the two I have LST'd are in the light deprivation area of the yard for an early harvest...

Thanks Passthat, That's what I was thinking too. I am just going to roll with the punches this year. Leave up the screen and if the plants allow me to scrog I will, If I can LST em I will do that, and lastly if those don't work because of too much growth and too small of screen I will just use it as support. I should know by end of June or before what it will be looking like to see what method I am going to go with. Thanks bro! I'll keep posted with pics!

Groovy, and good luck to ya!...BEND'm I say....lol...you can LST now unlit the even canopy starts to form and then begin the scrog once you have the evenness of the LST'd canopy...LST All at the same time and in a wk or so you'll notice a hell of a difference in thickness then SCROG the hell out of it...

I didn't even think of that Passthat! That's a good idea, I could start bending them towards the middle of the structure then let the even canopy grow up to the screen. Great idea bro! I'm gonna bend em over today and see what happens. I already topped em so they already have a bunch of top colas forming. I topped the Trainwreck and got 4 perfectly even colas started its awesome! Thanks again Bro! :eyesmoke:

Bent em and cruising along! Only took a couple hours after bending em to find the light and turn towards the sun again. I'll post a pic later on, for the time being I only bent the two sativa dominant strains cause the Indicas are still short in comparison. Hopefully that will keep them closer to the same height, and who knows might still be able to Scrog em up! I started a grow journal after I planted in the ground, I will post the updates there if anyone really cares lol! Thanks again everyone the advice has really helped out.
