I saw a video on youtube of guys going into a dump I think, and just nighthunting rats with pelletguns. they killed so many it was nuts. I got a pellet gun to protect my tomatoes from chipmunks and squirrels. but if you see them during the day at all it could be the way to go. Maybe even adopt some kittys and let them have turf wars at night.

I've heard of using chili powder solutions to keep pests away...makes sense, eat it and burn your mouth, get it on your hands, burn your eyes....you might be less likely to do it again, it should be safe for the plants...strike that, safe for all living things involved! :-)

Or provide an easier to reach food source...like some distractor tomato plants!

What happens when the cat eats his plants though?
Maybe pick up a small game cage trap?
That's how I took care of an army of feral cats. They step in. Step on the plate in the middle to get to food on the other end. Door slides down behind em.
Then you just do whatever with em.

Night shooting with a pellet gun is fun but poison does work, but in the dark with poison near your babes is just too dangerous, I'd build some netting wall outta chicken wire trap and shoot them ...its fun too

Try the heavy duty RAT sticky boards for rats.. Just make sure you secure the board to the ground..
