BTW, I think our non-toking wives would like each other. They both seem kind of assertive in a good way. When you mentioned how yours added a vacation to your calendar out of the blue, that really reminded me of my wife. We're both lucky.

Someday I might set up a hempy bucket like you use, so that I can leave it for a few days without worrying. Is it half coconut fiber and half Perlite? Would the plant be okay without watering it for 4 days?

With hydro the pH & tds get out of whack in the res as the water level goes down. If I keep it topped up, the swings aren't too bad. So I'm trying to think of a way to keep my 2 reservoirs topped up automatically, maybe from a third res of plain water. I'm wondering if I can rig something like a huge version of those automatic water dispensers for pets that keep their water bowls filled up.

I bet they would. Is your wife in public service of some sort? Teacher? Social Worker? - - I'd almost be willing to bet it.

With the 3 Gallon bucket and 50/50 coco/perlite (with a drain hole about 2 inches from the bottom - perlite only up to the drain hole), depending on the size of the plant, I could let it go for 4 days. Toward the end of veg it would be close. I typically end up feeding/watering about twice per week, but I try not to let things dry out TOO much. In a 5 gallon, which I suspect would be a minimum size for you, you would easily be able to go for 4 days without watering...maybe up to 6, but it would be hella thirsty by then. I'm going to keep running a couple for a while and might just continue in one tent as an insurance policy. I just read where some people have better luck with the more finicky strains if they use some type of medium. - - Was thinking of running Tangerine Dream and recently learned it was a pain in the ass, but someone had better luck in a hempy bucket than DWC.

Or get it to work similarly to a toilet tank...

Yup, also like a water cooler. I think they all work on the same basic principle. I have to experiment first to see how to make it work.

You guessed right about my wife being in public service. She's been a nurse ever since she got settled in America after immigrating from Russia. She was also a neurologist in Russia for a long time. How did you guess that?

Mine is a Social Worker. They take away the ability for someone else to fumble the ball wherever possible...mine tries to control EVERYTHING.

OK, peeps with SCROG experience, the White Widow x Big Bud just hit the screen. I am supposed to wait until the screen is about 90% full before flipping to 12/12, right? If I seem anxious, I am. They are already larger than I could handle if I wasn't going to use the screen. The little LSD in the front is only visiting for a couple days.

My Lusinda would look a lot like them if I hadn't tied down her branches, maybe just a bit shorter. Sorry that I don't have any useful SCROG experience. My try at it last time didn't do my poor plant any good. Your plants are certainly bushy with big leaves. I wonder if LED lighting promotes the growth of big leaves like these. All of our plants have them right now.

BTW, I ordered the Ceres Northern Lights x Skunk #1 seeds from Herbie's. I was running low on my primo seeds, so decided to take your advice.

Ok, I just finally got the Deuce Bigalow video clip. It had me puzzled for a while. It's the guy's screen name.

That, and the mistake over food (peas)...it just struck me funny. I didn't really expect it to make any sense to anybody. I'm warped, and I'm good with that! bongsmilie

I don't know about big leaves, but the vegetative growth from the SGS with the reds on is kicking ass!

I really hope you like that NLxSkunk. So far, there have been TWO that have really made me take notice. The strawberry cough (though I bet I could do a better job growing next time), and that one. The taste AND effect have been top marks for both. I am hoping to find good things about the LSD as well. You and MANY others have raved about it. The white widow x big bud is just strong and EASY. It's very dank, but it's not going to win any taste contests...lol. I needed a break after I went bananas and had 6 different strains (9 plants) going at the same time. I also wanted to see what I could do in a SCROG with a familiar strain. I have made so many changes at the same time over the past 6 months that I don't know if they have been for the better or not in any way other than theory.

Here is Natalie (2nd NLxSkunk). Never been so glad I cloned something in my life...lol. I only got about 1 zip from her momma due to my over crowding. This short little one topped for 4 should give me about 2. Wanted to share as far as calyx to leaf ratio. I haven't done ANY defoliation. She's built nice. She did start throwing out white hairs again up top toward the end, which is a little confusing to me, since I didn't increase any N, but I'll take any extra weight she wants to add. This one is at day 57. I am trying to take it to 63 if Lafonda doesn't need to be relocated in the next couple of days.

THAT one wasn't, but the next one was (LSD...small one in front). That just recently changed, Dawg. My apologies. My wife plopped a trip on my calendar. It will allow me to get 2 SCROGs under my belt prior, so it's actually a good thing. I've got everything here and ready to go, with the exception of a pump timer. I haven't abandoned it.

Pump Timer?Did Your Kit Come With 1??No,My Brother You Dont Need A Timmer With This System.Everthing Runs 24/7

I thought you only had it running 24/7 while they were youngsters, and then several minutes per hour. I read it on the stealthhydro site, but I am by no means arguing. It is all new to me.
I Hear Ya Brother,Theirs Many Opinon's On How To Run This System.Im A Big Beliver In You Cant Have Too Much Oxygen. So I Run Mine 24/7 From Start To Finish,Also It Also Helps In Keeping My Nute Soulition Stirred:eyesmoke:

I can't remember, how does this DWC system deliver res water to the upper roots? Does it use sprayers?

Theirs A Small Pond Pump In the Bottom With A 6 Head Digi Compensator bongsmilie

Sounds like you can keep them going 24/7... as long as the water's oxygenated using the air pump & air stone.

If you ever need a timer, an appliance timer that you can set for 15-minute intervals is probably the cheapest. I got one for about $6 for my twin bucket.

I really like the way that NLxSkunk has 4 main colas. Did you just top it twice to get that? But you didn't have to cut off any smaller tops? I seem to have to do a lot of defoliation because of all the little tops that develop inside the bush. Some of them don't get much light in there and don't develop into much of anything. I'm wondering whether I should just cut them all out, to let the main branches get all of the plant's resources. Do you do anything like that?

That particular one, Dave, I topped (two rounds) and "main-lined" (stripped all growth back to the center) and it seems to have forced those four colas to be much more even in size and virtually no side branching vs. leaving it to hormonal distribution like "Uncle Ben's Method", which was just one particular snip at a certain level of growth/development, and then, let it go. (what I did with the first one of this strain). They turned out similarly, but as makes sense, different ladies react differently when left to their hormones...lol

And just as a side-note: Seedsman offers something that should be the "same" called Northern Soul. I wonder truly what difference a breeder makes...is it like two cooks with different experience levels and the same ingredients? Or like name brand vs. bargain brand, prepackaged mac & cheese?

Thanks for the info, GB. I thought that was what it looked like you did there. I know that my first grow with LED created really dense foliage, so that the stuff in the middle suffered. And the plants in my current grow are heading there too. Some of the leaves are just huge, especially on the Tahoe OG. So I might be forced to cut off a lot of smaller tops before they drain too much from the plant. So that's what mainlining is all about...! I'd leave most of the fan leaves in place as long as they aren't too crowded together, but I'd prune off all the new tops that form as side-branching from the main colas. That might be the ticket for my situation.

Hey GB, how's that screen filling in? I bet your White Widow x Big Bud plants are almost ready to flip to 12/12. I'm flipping my plants this weekend. Lusinda's sproutday was May 16 and I got her branches spread out across the depth of my closet (2 feet), so I think it's time for her... Good luck on yours.
