Yeah I know it can be done I guess I was just stirring a bit of shit ...I know a lad who has been able to keep an outdoor one going for 3 seasons and fuck me it gets better each yr being outdoor tho that would be pretty rare u think ?
Bud is better but yield is getting smaller he has taken clones off it so it will still live on I guess

Hi all,
New grower here from central North Island. First grow was last year from clones (unknown strain) and everything went well. This year we have ordered some seeds which just arrived safely (PHEW!!!) - Bubba Kush, Blue Dream and a Trainwreck freebie. We're desperately keen to get the seeds going, but our research (we're a bit geeky) shows conflicting opinions about when to start. We plan to germinate and start the seedlings for a few weeks indoors.
When should we start germinating the seeds?
How many weeks should they stay inside (we are hearing 8-10 weeks)?
And when should they ultimately end up outside?
Thank you all SO MUCH for helping out the new kids on the block!

Sweet as yeah 16/8 sounds good, Ill probably stat poping seeds around October. I will probably only be bale to keep them inside for 2 weeks, 3 weeks max.
Yeah I went for a spot mish last week but im going for another one this week ive been checking out google maps for possible areas.

Legend for linking that e bay guano ferts im defiantly gonna buy that kit. Ill probably get some potash aswell. This ones the same but with cheaper shipping? Link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sunleaves-Bat-Guano-Small-Kit-Mexican-All-Purpose-Jamaican-Indonesian/261456089741?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid=555012&algo=PW.MBE&ao=1&asc=23490&meid=8765580753732682408&pid=100010&prg=10073&rk=4&rkt=24&sd=221335755125

Thats what I was thinking, because I wont have the time to visit my plants two times per week for feeding liquid ferts and messing around with all that. Hmm might have to invest in some of those granules to be honest they looks great. I might just get a smaller pack.

So far for my soil set up at this stage it looks like its going to be: Soil, compost, dolomite lime, Mexican bat guano (At first), water crystals and hopefully some neem.
The soil gets quite muddy so I was thinking of perlite but now im not so sure Ill need it since they wont be in pots.
Oh yeah 3 weeks from seed will be enough to get them big enough for outside.

Yeah that's the same one bro, that bat guano will be pretty strong by itself.
The smaller pack will be algood for the amount of plants you're growing.

sounds like a good setup nute and soil wise, I might lime my spots a month before planting. I'm aiming for 6-8ft real bushy plants, cotton candy and Black Domina x g13 are my 2 first choices - people crave CC so bad here and in auckland they say they've never had weed like it before.

You can grow Marijuana plants more than 1 year, all you have to do is leave some leaves and it should reveg but only in warm climates(Cali).
I left some leaves on a Panama to see what happens but I think it would have died. Probably would have revegged last year being our 3rd warmest year in a century

I don't see the point in revegging outdoors anyway. Revegged plants just don't perform the same.

@Juanita420

Completely depends on the season and climate, my minimum requirements are nothing below 10 degrees overnight and above 18 through the day consistently and of course good sun. Some years you could start late september or even earlier and other years the weather and temperature doesn't come right till mid november, it all depends on the year. NZ changes every year, usually one good season out of 2 years for me or an insanely good season once out of 4 years.

As in central NZ do you mean Taupo or Hamilton?. Cold in those areas so it might be best to plant in November to be on the safe side with your first season. I planted 2 Malawi clones last year in mid december and still ended up with over a pound with one of the worst April's I've had. You could probably start your seeds Late september or early october depending on how big you want them and maybe look to plant them in November? 8-10 weeks of veg which is still a lot, last thing you want is dealing with 15ft plants that break from high winds on your first season.

Flowering starts from mid to late January for indica dominant plants and February for hybrid sativas generally but also depends on your latitude. Landrace sativas wont start until March.

try plant with all day sun to get the best results.
Good luck with your first season man!

what breeder you get your blue dreams from? ive got cali conections and HSO we will have to compare later in the season see what phenos we end up with. yours should be cracker being in a warmer climate.

Don't worry about what you read on the net about when to start, I got mine going 2weks ago but I like em big when I put them out. best to seek advice from someone in same part of country as you a mate that grows or even a few of the fellas on here.

P1010778.JPG HSO Blue dream on the left and Cali Conection blue dream on the right. these will be going outside in a week or 2 and put under cover on frost risky nights or really bad weather. at 2 ft they'll be put in the ground and left to do their thing.

Thanks so much for the reply CK, we really appreciate the advice. We are not far out of Hamilton, generally a couple of degrees warmer than the 'Tron on average.

We've been trawling the internets for weeks trying to find good NZ info - this thread is huge and we are loving reading through every post (up to page 15 so far!) Sounds like you had a great grow last year, we've got some bagseed that we are going to guerilla-grow (we live rural) so fingers crossed for them too. Big focus is on the imported seeds - we've read some great stuff about Blue Dream in particular.
Thanks heaps mate - we'll post pics as the grow progresses.

Thanks for this DD - you've given us great reassurance. The seeds are all from HSO (Spain), and beautifully presented in the wooden boxes. Would love to compare notes with you as we go - looks like we'll get started fairly soon. We are a bit worried about how big the girls will get - we've heard Sativa's can get up to 4 meters high! Will you be doing anything to keep the height down?

Thanks for posting the pic too - they look super-healthy. We'll be stoked if ours come out as good!

Black Domina x G13 inside currently.
Some of the frostiest bud I've grown, pics don't really do it justice. I'll upload some of them in the dark to show the insane resin production.

Definitely growing this outdoor this year. Really solid and strong branching and doesn't stretch too much. Old school fox tailing indica bud structure. Smells to potent!.
The new Cotton candy seed popped up in 3 days with no germination before hand! not to mention a frozen seed too.
