Whats worse?

Cold or humidity? Started heating my greenhouse because it's been 40s at night and I wanted to keep it in the 60s BUT now I wake up every morning to it being 75-90% humidity. Should I be more worried about the cold or the chance of mold?

If you can crack a window or vent up high you can probably bring that rh down bit, at least that works for me until it gets so cold I can't do it anymore. Had a cold spell last week in the mid 20s and I had to shut it tight. Everything was soaking wet for a day and I found a small spot of pm. So back to spraying Actinovate. The pm I get here comes alive in cold and damp conditions so I go for the heaters to at least keep the resin flowing a little better. Sort of a no win since I don't have a dehumidifier big enough for my space.

I tried heating my GH last year...and the whole inside walls were soaked....I even vented it...had bud rot from it....now i just have lots of fans and a blower with a heater coil on it...nothing big 1500 watts...so far this year no dampness in the GH and going good....once the sun hits the GH they swing back into action ....heater is on a timer so shuts off early.....

Air movement and ventilation are the best defense. I run fans in my greenhouses all season.
yes..I have lots fans and my vent fan is like 5500CFM on low,,,lol...the more fans the better...i was just out there ..its cold outside..but not bad in GH...

Yeah I have four huge fans that push air around on the inside. I have four exhaust fans so maybe just run two at night. Just won't hold any heat in if I'm venting it.

Do dehumidifiers work? Was thinking about buying 3 from Lowes and putting one in each section @Bugeye
Yes, they work and I would also like to add one but I need a larger electrical feed first, my heaters have me maxed out and on verge of tripping breakers. Money, money, money!

Edit - will they take enough water out of a greenhouse to make a noticeable difference? I can't say for sure. They can take gallons out of the air overnight but maybe we are dealing with much more water than that?

I hear ya on that brotha, these things are a money pit lol but once it gets dialed in it'll be worth it. I ran my own breaker out here so i wouldnt have to worry power. Exhaust fans were drawing too much alone. Hopefully these dehumidifiers do the job.

Well I've been surfing a bit around greenhouse supply stores and I can see that some supply dehumidifiers and some don't. What I'm trying to find is a calculator that will help us determine the size needed. Haven't found that yet, but if I do I'll post it. Found a wide price range. The cheaper ones may have trouble running all night without being emptied or shut down periodically. So not sure if Lowes is the way to go or not. But I have determined that they are used in cold environments to control humidity when heating.

Yeah I haven't found one yet either. Still trying to understand relative humidity lol need to do some more research today on it.

I like Lowe's because I can easily return them. supposedly they have some that run continues and u just hook a hose up to them so they can drain all night. I figure 3 that do 70pts has to be enough. Doesn't gotta be at 0 just under 40%

I can't find a calculator for dehumidifiers either but found found some posts on another board suggesting you should have capacity to remove water equal to the amount that you are watering each day. So in my case I think I'd need something that can pull out about 8-10 gallons.

Yeah, that's a lot! you might just have to crank up the heat and open more vents. Are you doing some proactive spraying for PM?
That's what I'm afraid of lol going to try the dehumidifiers tonight, if they don't work I'll add in two vents the next night. And no I haven't been spraying anything the past week or so. Makes me nervous to spray in flower. But looks like I might have to

Yeah, I try not to spray anything in flower but had to start the Actinovate again. So far no issues, maybe a little premature browning of pistils, but had to be done.

That's why I wanna try everything possible first but if I gotta do it I gotta do it. Everything is only 1-3 weeks along so I have a little time before I really need to worry.

cranked the heat up and turned on my top exhaust fan. Brought it down from 88% to 75% but I think it came down considerably more than that. When I went in this morning there was 0 condensation on the plastic and it felt completly dry.

I found this for relative humidity @Bugeye http://andrew.rsmas.miami.edu/bmcnoldy/Humidity.html

mine was was only at 37% last night. So I think im good? it still said 75% humidity in there but it didnt feel like it at all...
