As we reach about the midway point in flowering, we've got some good growth going on the flowers, and there are many flower sites on each plant. The two have definitely gone up in the last few days.
I've been dealing with gnats recently, so the top soil zone is drying out after a gnatrol application. I think I got the little buggers...they're harmless, but annoying.
I've had to add a fair bit of H2O to the system, so I know they're drinking it up. I'm thinking I may do a mid-point res change, but I haven't done anything other than add H2O to the res every 3-4 days, and its been working well, overall.

Funny, I took a quick lookee into the res, and things still look quite clean and clear down there, so I decided to skip the res change and simply dump another 40L of water into the res.
I also pulled out one of the PB's to see how the bottoms of the buckets were doing, and I had a nice looking chia rootball growing between the buckets. I knew that the roots had made it all the way down the bucket, as the top soil zone was staying quite dry, but the growth has been fantastic, so far!
I sure hope that the mesh I put down in my party cups holds, or I could have an early exit from this round. I do have my insurance 5th bean I could pop before the deadline, in soil...still considering it.

Whew, that was close...I could have come down to my room to a disastrophe. I got super enthusiastic about changing out my res, tho it didn't need it (stop thinking, brain), and I forgot to re-connect my pump to the plumbing after I was done poking around under the lid. I had gone about a day before I realized my error. Fortunately it was only a day, and there were nary any ill effects.

I'll try to get some pictures to you tonight after the tent wakes up. But, wow, the growth on these PB's is pretty phenomenal. We've just crossed the 4 week mark, and are working on the latter half of the cycle. The flowers are quite developed, like they would be in a true hydro system. But I'm not having to use any synthetic hydro nutes, and can keep on my organic regime.
I'm liking this...I would consider doing a second one of these systems for the other 1/2 of my tent. Easy to maintain, growth rates are pretty fantastic!

Two days shy of 5 weeks. Looking good. The smell-o-meter is going up every day, it seems. Thankfully I have a Green Gator on guard.

I'm going on a limb, declaring this run a success, with 3 weeks remaining. If I even limp to the finish, I believe I'll do better with this medium than straight amended soil. The flower development is already so nice, and the plants are taking up as much as I'm giving them.

I thought you'd want to see a little update of mine. This was from the other day, just as they hit 5 weeks. The PB's are just smelling so lovely, and are kicking along, tickety boo.
Everything is filling in nicely around the tent, with some of my new tester strains on the right, under the Apollo. I've got a pair of NL#5 X AF from MNS...one is heavy leaning to the AF side, and the other to the NL#5. The smells are fantastic! Like a fine wine...lol.

I havent forgotten about you all...I had a set of weekly update pictures on my phone, but I had to quickly delete them, as I was in public, at an event, and others were using my phone. So, no pictures of the week6 end, but I'll snap some this weekend, and show you my progress.
The flowers are getting so fat on the PB's, they're starting to droop a bit from the weight. I've been half considering some twine wrapping to keep the plants from sagging too much. I've got about 10 days to go, tops. These PB's are typically ready right around day 54-56, for me.
Actually, my whole tent, minus the party cups, is going to be culled at about the same time this round, so I'm going to be enjoying my regular strains, along with the new strains I've been testing out. Cant wait! I love trying out new strains!

Here are the pictures I promised you. Though this PB doesn't grow monster dong colas, it grows a lot of small-med flowers that are very dense. This strain often takes longer to dry than others I run, due to the density of the flowers.

Cant wait to pull these down in the next 9 or so days. Things are a little overgrown, since I did no training this round. Looking forward to tasting the new genetics on the right side of my tent. Always a treat with MNS beans.
Oh, the PB will be great too, I'm just bored of it now, after growing it out the past 2 seasons.

And @hyroot, this is the first round that the "kushy" smell of this PB pheno is more prominent than in the past. It still seems to really ride the line between the phenos, with a little bit of the colouring on the undersides of the leaves, but not too much, a bit of the kushy smell comes through, but it still primarily resides in the cherry/candy land, for the most part.

My cherry and space queen pb phenos both grow similar. They're mainlined this round too. The cherry gets frostier and larger buds than the space queen pheno. I think the pb from seed in veg is either the kush pheno or pink pheno. Its very stout and slow. Larger leaves though.

Well, I hacked them down tonight, and they're hanging now. I'll report back when they're dry. This strain has a lot of super frosty sugar leaves. Going to make some lovely bubble!

Its been very dry lately here, and they're smaller flowers, so they're dry already and I put them in the jars tonight, after a quick weigh.
There's 146g in those two jars (2L and 1L mason jars), but there's another ~30g from lower branches that I cut off for bubble, so a decent, but not earth shattering yield. The other side of the tent, in soil, under the Apollo pulled better than these two in the organic/hydro hybrid setup, but there were more plants stuffed into the other side of the tent...and different strains too, ones that are heavier yielders. The other side was super amended organic soil, with my "special mix", and they performed stellar!
Considering I hardly fed these ones any nutes, they did pretty good, I guess. No real deficiencies, super frosty and nice looking flowers. I think I could have gotten a higher yield with them if I had fed them more. They basically used what was in the soil, with a couple of base nuts feedings. But mainly it was all H2O. And it was nice having the automatic watering system, so the plants were on auto-pilot the whole time.
Not sure if I'll use this system next round, or stick with my amended soil mixes. I do well in soil...very well. This system was a test, and it did decently. I think I could have done better with these two plants in soil...who knows. The Volcano is calling...perhaps I'll have an epiphany.

They're doing fine. I'm going to have to make a decision by Saturday's update. Will re-pot the other one in a 3.78L bucket and finish it off.
At this point, I'm leaning towards my homebrew cross. Though its the shorter of the two, its already got nice flower development and will be a nice single cola unit, methinks.

My contestant? In the party cup comp? I posted her update last Saturday...in the comp thread. And I'm glad I went homebrew cross...she's exploding in flower development already!
