Im hoping to get some advice from the experienced pros on here.
Im looking for a piece of property to be my retirement "forever" home.
I would love to be on a lake or river but not sure its worth the extra traffic.
Id rather a small town but how do i know how many cops etc.
What info is relevant ?
I just want to be left alone. Now that im done making money because of health issues friends and family have lost interest in me..
What else should i look for in a property?

Find a place thats on a well. One less bill to worry about, meter to be read, and an endless supply of water. Also three sides of trees helps and four is even better ;)

Indoor outdoors
I dont care.
I dont want 100 acres or weed. Just enough to keep me and the fam happy.

I not reqlly lookin for help deciding where exactly.
Just the things to look for that arent location specific.

Ive never owned property or even a home so this is all new to me.

Like i said id prefer a lil place on a lake or river so i would probably have free water.
I also plan to run solar panels and a small wind turbine to power most if not the whole place.

But i also imagine a lake or river might mean more people floating by or showing up unexpected.

Regardless where i buy i will have a few large dogs so they might cancel out the extra nosy randoms.

Whoa, solar panels are great but, take it from experience you DO NOT want wind turbines, the cavitation will give you headaches and you can feel it in your whole body..."whoop whoop whoop". We got rid of the wind turbines and are now through with the water turbines on the river we live next to. Turned an old watermill into a hydro electric station.......absolutely off the grid.......

I wish it were really that easy or believe me i would have moved to colorado already.
Unfortunately im saving up to be broke. But my lawyer insists that i will be getting a decent insurance settlement so im trying to plan ahead.

I was thinking of putting up one of those small wind turbines on a shed or garage to help the solar panels. The ones made from a car alternator.
I have alot of experience building things and will probably use solar wind and water to keep power going. I might build a gasifier for a generator as a backup.

But before i can do any of this stuff i need to buy something

Land is reasonable out east of Colorado Springs. Solar panels are everywhere, can dig a well, post card views and weed grows beautifully
I have a nice "post card view" right here in SW. MO...

Land is cheap where I live in SW. MO...I got 10 acres with a 6 bedroom 1 story farm house on it for 110,000, and everything in the house is up to date and my daughter is now living in it...and we are building a new house right next to it...with ALL the amenities for us and our indoor girls...here's my "post card views"........

Looks nice
Thats kind of what im looking for nice big house on water. A lil bit secluded and away.
Everyone thinks ive gone off the deep end watching all these alaska survival shows. I just dont trust or want the drama of being in a big city anymore.

If i didnt have kids i would already be in alaska.
But since i have kids i will stay in ontario and just go up north somewhere.
Im really thinking about buying land in an unorganized township on a small lake and building a house out of 6-7 shipping containers. I was a licenced welder and i have been designing everything from homes to furniture etc since ive been off work.

Just bought a house myself. I live at the beach so not much in the way of land, but then again I'll take a 4K Sq Ft. beach house over a few acres inland somewhere any day of the week.. But I digress. It doesn't matter where you live, just get your neighbors in your back pocket. I'm talking Truman Burnank vibes. It's an art to keep neigbhors close, but not too close. Keep them at arms reach. Other than that the only other pertinent lesson Ive discovered is, don't even bother with cheap laborers when remodeling.
