i have used aspirin to keep cut roses looking good in a vase and have used em in my bong water to keep it from getting so nasty... i dont know if i would put them on my living plants, but they obviously do have some benefits to oxygenating water.

as for hydrogen peroxide, i dont think the OTC kind is a strong enough concentration to be a super help... and yes, it is NOT for the organic grower AT ALL!

I really don't know if it helped or not...didn't seem to hurt...mix a little 3% in a spray bottle with water and you drive them dang gnats away tho

tip de jour:

bugs are bad, m'kay... be ahead of them by putting sticky traps in your grow.

if it catches bugs be sure to identify them and act accordingly. a spider mite infestation is probably one of the worst pot cooty infestations because it is a hard problem to get rid of. i have known a few growers over the years who just settled for keeping them in check instead of wiping them out totally... personally, if i ever get them i think i will remove my whole op and start over after bleach scrubbing everything.

last tip was kinda a short one, so here is another short one....

dont be afraid to try new things after you get a clue on how to grow conventionally. (notice that part!)

a couple decades ago neither SOG nor ScrOG were known... some creative stoner sat down and looked at their plants and decided to try something different... never can tell what you will come up with.

show us all how to do something new!

If you want to induce flowering with an outdoor grow, you can cover the plant a few hours before sunset and take it off after dark. eg if there is 9 hours of darkness cover the plant for 3 hours to make it up to 12.

This makes the plant think the nights are longer and the right time of year to flower.

Use a couple of sticks to support the bag and that will prevent any damage to the plants.

Spidermites are my biggest fear. I have heard misting with soapy water (not antibacterial) will get rid of them. I have heard that from different parts of the world too including from experienced growers.

so here is my 10p worth for to day i missed the water/ph day so i found this not so much a tip as a useful chart.

and another tip for lowering your humidity, if you fill net bags (the ones you get with washing tablets) with activated carbon (the stuff from pet shops for aquatic filters) its cheap, and hang them in your grow room not only will it lower your RH (humidity) i found it helped with the smell as well. if you want a higher humidity get a plastic washing up bowl of water and hang a towel above with about 25-40% of the towel in the water have a fan blowing on the towel, the towel will remain wet via capillary action and help raise humidity.

have fun

o and another tip to do with ph down
i found ph down a bit of a git to use as it only takes one drop to much in 20 litres to sent it to low, so i dilute my ph by a 100, 1mil of ph down to 100mil water, i also dilute my ph up but as it's not so concentrated i only do it 1:50 i have not had to use my ph up since diluting the ph down

to add a bit to my earlier post you can use cat litter instead of activated carbon this works quite well.(use new litter as old stuff is a bit nasty, although it might help mask the smell of your grow) lol

thanks for the rep HHmary

sorry to hear it :(

reminds me of a tip i got taught when i first started growing...

always set up a catch chain for your lights so they cant fall on the plants or worse, on the ground and shatter. this catch chain normally hangs slack because it isnt what holds the lights in their hanging position it is just there in case you become a clumsy stoner.... been many times this habit has made me give a sigh of relief.

gravity sucks.
an example....

if possible put everything into a small hard plastic child's swimming pool - in case of leak or other unexpected problem. Especially useful for hydro growers with downstairs neighbors.

Seal feeding schedules or other growing-relevant papers in a clear zip lock bag - you can read it without getting it wet and dirty. you can also use a marker and write on it.
