I'd say...

Ditch the wire nuts and just cut the wires to length. They'll block light and possibly get zorched from the heat coming off the emitter

Space the emitters out evenly on the heat sink to distribute the heat evenly

If the screws aren't lining up don't use one screw...better off with a thermal adhesive pad. Even better would be a predrilled hole and a self tapping screw....or supras TIM plus kapton tape

And from here it looks like you have the wiring wrong with two positives going out instead of just one from the lead..hard to tell

And one last thing. Clean the heatsink up. Sand it down then wipe down with ISO alcohol until it's clean and shiny. That film won't help things

Just my 2c...looks good otherwise. Nice case and setup
dont i have to cover the exposed wire?

i also ordered some http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_thermal_adhesive.htm so i won't be screwing anything anymore..

also thank you for the post. will be cleaning things up even more and checking my wiring

There shouldn't be any exposed wire if you cut it to length and run it from emitter to emitter. Maybe I'm missing something though.

Good luck with the project, can't wait to see it lighted up and growing!

This thread is exactly why you should build your own. I am greatful for this post because now we all can learn from it. There is a plethora of knowledge around here, plenty enough to diy and save yourself a shitload of money. Thanks for posting op.

I am not knocking him or any of you, but I am a little afraid of fucking something up and burning my house down.

What happens when your home ceiling fan starts getting noisy?

You pay someone to change it out for you?

Then yah...better stay away from DIY led.

Might be better to run a 1000w hid in a closet...:P

Just be careful like anything else. Auto fire extinguishers and high temp shutdowns should be in any grow room regardless of tech used and who built it.

I was actually thinking about picking up an AFE.

I gotta learn a little more about high temp shutdowns, as I currently have none set up in place.

This is what I've used for years now. Gives a lot more peace of mind leaving the garden for extended times. I was way more worried when I ran hid without these things..

High temp sensor

Just started using this maybe a year ago. Nice knowing there's something in place..just in case..

I would like to upload a few excel work sheets. Since the Vero series was just recently upgraded (thank you jesus santa god), I figured I'd practice some of my excel skills and do a few sheets for the lower models, like V10 and V13.

Would you advise creating a new thread or adding to an existing?
