12/12 from seed questions

ok guys i need help. iv got a healthy little seedling growing under 18/6 (6500k 18watt x2 CFLs) i know i know... but iv been looking up the 12/12 from seed regimen, and what i would like to know is if i go with 12/12, should i keep the cool whites (6500k's) while its in 12/12 untill i see it start to bud? or should i be using warm whites (2700k) ? From what i know, 6500k is better for veg. and i imagine it wont bud yet lol, so the obvious choice would be 6500k? or no? Because i have only 10 and half weeks to grow this plant, i want to do it as fast as possible and have a harvest in 10 weeks. So would it be wise to keep it under 12/12 with 6500ks or 2700ks? And will 12/12 have a negative effect on the veg stage? Will only 12 hours of light slow down the growth signifigantly? or minor-ly? lol. please help.

Hey dude im a noob too... so as far as i know if your going to do 12/12 then use warm and cool... dont quote me on that... but from what ive read use both with clf... i know you want to harvest in 10 weeks but you shouldn't rush it dude honestly ive learnt alot of this site and if im correct every one will say do your veg then go to bloom... what kind of plant? Auto? Fem? Bagseed? Another thing people will ask for pics and more info like soil or mediumless ventilation ect ect

i did a 12/12 from seed with 3 and they just turn into these weak little lollipops bout 1.5-2 ft tall. waste of a seed if you ask me. fwiw i had them under a low Kelvin 400w hps. let em run and then in 10 weeks you'll know what the score is.

I've done it......don't do it. You'll get very little for your efforts. I've put plants into 12/12 from the beginning, after a week of veg, after 2 weeks of veg, etc. etc. and if you don't veg your plants for at least 3 weeks you'll be disappointed in your yield.

well so far iv kept them on 18/6 and heres what shes like now after 9 days. Small? She seems ok though nice n healthy. dark green. I have encounted a issue though, one of my light fittings, the wires broke so now i only have 1 light. I would re-wire it but its more difficult than it sounds. the connectors that touch the bulb in a b22 fitting is where the wires have come out. So now im stuck with one light for now. however theres a abandoned house nextdoor that i might go over and turn the mains off and steal one from there haha. well just borrow ;) lol. But iv got the light about a inch and half or so to the plant. so should be ok for the next week or so. Tell me how she looks guys? the pic with smaller leaves was the same plant at about a week.

how old are your girls? I was thinking going 12/12 tonight but leaving the 6500k on for another week just to help veg growth then go 4000k for second week then after that 2700k till harvest? good or bad idea? ya girls look good

It depends on the strain.

Most indicas will do just fine. They might not produce nearly as much, but they will still be awesome little plants with great buds for smoking. I only veg my plants for 2 weeks for flipping them, and I get over 1/2oz per plant from my CFL tent.

Pure sativas, on the other hand, don't do as well 12/12 from seed.

Edit: As for the lights, use both if you have 'em. If you have to choose one, use the 2300k's.

This grow is very newbie-friendly. I started 9 beans- (5 of them feminized) and topped every plant @ the 4th node. Now I have 9 plants total and it's a small jungle. They grew 12/12 from seed under a 65w 2700K CFL for the first 4 weeks. I may hit a select few branches with some pollen from a good stud father. Will have to wait and see. I transplanted @ about 28 days old and a kind of DIY (organic style) so the plants have everything they need to THRIVE. IME, they grow just fine under MH or HPS from start to finish :-) . General consensus = the MH spectrum (blue / violet) is better for veg and HPS (red and orange) is better for flowering. I have seen great results with both, if maybe tighter buds while using the MH bulb. They are both good, however the MH will ensure short inter-node length while the HPS seems to facilitate stretching. Anyway, hope this helped 8)

will using a 6500k and 4000k for a week, then switching the 6500 for a 2700. making a 2700 and 4000k light mix, for another week, then switching the 4000 for another 2700? a good idea? 4000+6500(week 1)4000+2700(week 2)2700+2700(week 3)

Oh god.. dude.. save yourself hassle and trouble. Go watch Jorge Cervantes growing weed dvd. Your going to get guys here telling you to run cfls, and uv lights, to color temps of your cfls, (Its a pos cfl who cares).

12/12 from seed you can yield nicely in dwc. You have to be a poor grower not to. And to say that you must be poorer.

I think your idea of 12/12 is awesome, go for it, only you will be the judge. But don't flower with anything less then 150w hps... CFLs are for houses.

I usually change out Metal Halide to HPS starting the third week of flower. So if you wish to change your spectrum you could do that. Another thing you can do is run one 6500 and the other 2700 so you have a wider spectrum then change 6500 to 2700 around the third week in flower.

I don't think that 12 hours of light will slow your growth as much as the lack of light.

Annie

That looks great and I would like to keep tabs on you. How many are in there and are they the same strain?
Thanks bro, actually there are 6 plants in that jungle. All topped @ the 4th node, each has 8 branches now. They are all feminized (except for the Sleestack skunk). Durga Mata II (paradise), Amnesia (seedsman) and the lone S.S. I also have some Afghani and Hindu kush in 20oz party cups that just sprouted. I will have to see what pollen I have available when the females are about 30 days in, as I plan on making a few seeds this run. Will update around New Years :leaf:

Dude, Ideally you want to use a blue/violet (4000,6500K) spectrum for germ/veg, however you can just use any spectrum CFL. It really doesn't have to be that complicated. Here's what I do: Start feminized seeds and veg for a month in a small box under a single 65w/ 2700K CFL, then transplant, and move under a 400w HPS. 12/12 all the way, which results in the plants being "all bud", with minimal scrap/stem/ material. This is just a method that works well for me :peace:
