The NYPD are some of the most outta control gangs in NYC. Stop & Frisk is a huge population control function that is illegal. Harkens to the Nazi era. They're pissed that they can't infringe on rights MORE for fucks sake.

You can only push a population so far, unless you're willing to pull out N. Korean / Iraq type of brutality. We're certainly not remotely to that point.

Previous administrations are to blame for letting it get this far out of hand. The police are simply following their own mob mentality, but the previous mayors and commissioners allowed them to get this far out of control... and rationalize it.

Just to clarify my opinion, the whack job that killed the police didn't help the cause at all. Clearly this was a monstrous act of a likely psychopath

I agree with almost everything you have said, except the resignation part. The cops defiantly took it to an extreme in my opinion, as far as turning their backs on the mayor at the ceremonies honoring the 2 slain police officers (some, not all). Why? Because Bloomberg and Giuliani ain't there anymore who used to kiss the cop's ass, and De Blasio is more a man of the people, who did away with Stop and Search? Don't get me wrong, I like the cop's in NYC. I lived close enough to NYC, and being my nature, I dealt with the men in blue a couple of times (smoking weed) and found them to be cool to minor infractions without flipping. Always a warning, and that was in the 70's & 80's, when you could go to jail for a joint. The cops hate him, but is that a reason for a mayor to resign? I just think the cops actions are just throwing more fuel on a fire that needs to go out right now. It is becoming a us against them in the black community, and that ain't a recipe for success, only more dead people.

Because the GOP wants to brag that they're "tough on crime" and have the police back them up. Just like they want people to believe the farce that they are for "reduced governement". Georgie W preached that like it was the gospel, and then increased government during his tenure.

I'm sure this is true, but there is more. You see, the GOP wants to loot pensions and keep the working class down and they actually need the police in order to succeed. I mean, just imagine how the protests would go if police weren't pandered to. Police would be joining protests.

They probably were thugs and hooligans that deserved it. . Maybe because I was a blue eyed and white, that might have had something to do with myself more than twice walking away from an arrest, with drugs in my pocket. but kissing a cops ass was always a good way to deal with a situation. In Manhattan, like my town, their are asshole cops, just like the asshole criminals that they have to deal with. Anyway, in the few times that I have had the pleasure of direct discussions about my future with the people in blue, I have more often than not to been treated well (the times I walked), and then there were the pricks that actually arrested me ( both for drugs and both dismissed). In essence, if you don't fuck with them, they won't fuck with you.
