That's dope. The still standing water kinda makes me worried, but just to tie em over for times when you can't tend to the plants, that looks like a really effective method. I gotta grab some perlite anyways so I might as well grab an extra bag n rig this up for her to see how it works out

That is most certainly what she said.

Ohhh yeahh! ...derp. Good call. Just checked n they're in the history. kinda horrified at how many other things are too :o i needa chill out a little bit
If you do try it let me know. I gotta get a bag of perlite too I'm about to try hempy, might even do a journal, it'd be my first...

Hell yeah we wanna see a @polo the don journal . I'm on strike. Not posting anymore until you start your journal >D
I think I will do one soon. I just don't know what to do it on. I'm also a member of riddlem3 so it's kinda expected that I do one. I'm seriously thinking about doing one on a sugar black rose freebie from delicious seeds that I'm fixing to take clones from for my hempy project. Whatcha think?

PS: please don't stop posting waiting in me, you may never type again...

checking out journals on tht strain right now - whatever u decide to do Im sure you're gonna kill it .

edit: yeah that shit looks good. I'd go for it. Sugar Black Rose, has a nice ring to it. Not real familiar with hempy setups, but it's gotta be more interesting than dirt n water ;P

that's what's up. I wanna get into some of the more interesting shit too eventually, just kinda playing it safe right now. Prolly run the plain jane organic soil setup for a while, maybe move on to a scrog at some point, would really like to try a vert grow with trellises (everytime i check @ttystikk 's thread - http://rollitup.org/t/ttystikks-vertical-goodness.787572/page-20#post-11187727 - i feel like I'm wasting a lot of space / energy), then maybe get into other mediums n what not. Keep us posted, looking forward to see what you got in store 4 us

so i see another issue coming up with Gg 1 - its not gonna be able to support its main colas. 2 are already sagging a little n its just starting to get rolling , wasnt expecting it to have flowers this large n sure as hell didnt expect its main colas to be 5 ft long. once it really starts filling out n those calyxes start swelling up Theres no way itll be able to handle the weight. any of you ever try tying your colas to the ceiling for support? Im kinda worried about the rope/string infusing with / getting embedded into the buds as they form around it. just cut some gg 3s ties off n had to carefully remove the thread from buds that were growing around it, was a bitch to get out without damaging the buds. id hate to go smoke a bowl n end up inhaling burnt rope or some shit lol

Yeah would definitely like to see a journal from you.

I had to support many colas earlier this year with a CH run of which I sort of spread out the plants too much by cropping, so many branches going sideways for a feet or more. I had to tie them to a line I usually add for hanging colas to dry.

Google Yoyo plant support. Those are ideal for your situation.

Haven't had any taller than 4ft, most hit around 3' and the trellises I use hold them up/support them well, if they go sideways and can still support themselves I just leave them as they get better light that way anyhow, but I always have support with the trellises lower down which is usually good enough. You can look at tying them to the ceiling or simply add some bamboo posts to support them. That stuff Sativied shows in his pic looks like some flexible ties that come in a roll, I buy it at the dollar store for LST and have used it to tie the heavier colas to the trellises for additional support. It's all good though, not a bad problem to have ;) Looking good!

BTW: I was running out of trellises and can't find any around as it's winter here and all the gardening stuff is gone. I did find these on e-Bay, they have them in different lengths, I bought 25x @30" long for $16 delivered to my door, just watch them and they go down from time to time, they're listed for $18.99 right now.

I buy it at a sort of dollar store store too, called the Action. It's regular metal plant binding wire but with a relatively thick rubber coating so it doesn't cut into plants.

Yeah thought it looked like that stuff, haven't used much yet but I bought to to replace the twist tie rolls I was buying. The twist ties work fine but they cut into the stalks if you leave them on for a long period of time. This stuff has quite a thick rubber coating so should work better. I usually twist a loose loop at the stalk where I'm tying it, but the twist ties cut through wherever the pressure is, even if you leave them loose at the stalk.

Such a bad problem to have buds that are too big.

I use bamboo sticks with that rubber coated wire.

Hell yeah that rubber coated wire is exactly what I'm looking for - gonna grab some bamboo sticks too for future training. Those woulda been damn nice earlier on in the grow. Thanks guys

Right? Living that hard life :\ lool. But nah, that's the thing that's making me worried - this girl doesn't look like she's hardly getting started yet n they already leanin'. Gotta start planning a little better in the future - The growth can be really sporadic sometimes. In my head I always anticipate some of the shoots that are closer to the top but not quite up to speed w/ the more dominant ones would start to grow taller when you tie over the dominant ones, but sometimes you get those freak offshoots coming up from the base of the plant n hanging out at the top all spindly n shit all the sudden, looking at it like where the fuck u come from? IDK training can yield better results but sometimes I just wanna leave em alone n see what they're finna do naturally...

A lot of ppl recommend not doing sat's indoors but I think you can get a helluva yield off em if you dialed in the environment right n had the space. They're a little too big for my situation, but ima make it work this time through. That sweet black angel seems to have a lot of indica characteristics despite being sat heavy on the genetics. Something in between the GG 1 and the SBA would be perfect. Guess that's why so many hybrids are out there

Nice, that's going to look awesome soon.

Although not as large that reminds me a lot of my first real attempt at indoor growing 8 years ago, most sativa dom plant I've grown (Desert Queen from No Mercy). Not the most efficient use of space but giving it enough space does result in the best looking plant and buds.

I covered it in a journal here (in dutch but pics are in english :eyesmoke:) and did mention gram amount a couple of times but looks like I haven't measured dry weight. Was under 400watt too. As you can see in those pics it filled up very nicely with multiple layers of bud, a foxtail-ish structure yet compact. The bud in the last pic was a different pheno. The popular haze hybrids take a few weeks longer to grow but often make up for that in yield. Those long colas also make it suitable for a SoG with clones that are vegged little to nothing. That's how most of the popular amnesia haze here is grown, and what in turn makes good reflectors and bulbs with deep penetration () popular.
