First Grow Ever....

just started my first grow in a BC Northern Lights Grow box. I germinated 4 "Chem Dawg" seeds my buddy gave me. I started them off in Rockwool but have gotten mixed reviews about it. Im also using the nutes supplied with the grow box. I'm just looking for experienced hydro growers input as I am new to this and am only hoping for the best since it's my first time. Not sure when I should start giving them the nutrients and not really sure when I should transfer the lil ladies into a bigger pot. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i don't grow hydro but i am sure you can find help here ,good luck though ,but im pretty sure you need to be giving them some

What are your NPK numbers on your nutes? Is there calmag in there? You can feed them w/ 200ppm nutes after they have their second set of leaves, if they looks like they need it. You know, bright green or even yellow new growth.

Im not there yet friend... So by the time im able to do it you should be sailing smoothly. Just make sure you have your PH meter and up and down, your TDS meter, and your Temp Meter. Read up on your Room Temp, Definately Research what your Humidity Concerns are. Space, Lighting, Res Changing, Your water type, I believe you can adjust Tap Water by PHing... Those kinds of things... Google got DWC Research and YouTube and of course RIU in the Forim in my Scottland voice... lol Good Growing Experience to you....

Not too sure what the NPK ratio is but I'll find out and I'll post pics as soon as I get home, the seeds sprouted and everything looks good I'm just nervous about over watering cause I know the rockwool holds a lot of water. Although it feels dry when I touch.

You'll want to get something w/ a good nitrogen rich content. If your rockwool is darker towards the bottom, you might want to hold off watering. The darker parts of the rockwool are the water logged parts. you need to let that part dry out. Just spray the leaves and dome them to help retain the humidity. If you don't have a domed tray, use some jars.

you transfer when they are well rooted about 1" sticking out sides and bottom..this site will give you lots of info..FTW i start in plugs move to hugo and then set them on top of big mama's..i do DTW..the "big mama" (i secure with soil staples-home depot) information on the sidebar and videos will give you all the info you need..i started in soil and am now in hydro. i hope this answers your question.

you also need a ph and ppm pen..they are critical to hydro success.

So the nutes that they supplied for veg stage are 1-2-5 and they also gave me some used during the veg and flower that is 2-0-0. I'm gonna upload some pics of the lil ladies soon. Thanks for all the advice it's really helping me out

So here they are.... As you can see one died on me and the first one looks like it's about to go. When I got home the cubes were completely dry although last night they were pretty moist. You live and you learn I guess. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep them healthy?

I'm using a 400 watt MH bulb and the temps around 70, I don't have anything to measure the humidity.

You don't need to measure. You're in last ditch efforts now to save these girls. They droop because either over or under water. The cubes look wet so get humidity high.

u in the bloombox, producer or mothership? i have the mothership and bloombox, the plantlife nutes that came with it work well just follow the directions on the lable, but once u run out. switch to general hydroponics maxi grow/ maxi bloom nutes work just as well, they dont need additives,yield more and do NOT clog the emitters..i love my bc grow boxs, i get a 1/2 lb every 56 days off the 9 plants in bloomside of my bloombox w/ northern lights and blue mystic..i have a clone king 36 site in the veg side and put a hydro farm megagarden in the mothership and keep up to 10 mothers inthere in 4'' rock woll ebb n flow style..LOVE BC BOX'S WORK GREAT, payed itself off in 3 harvests!!!

also bcnl reps can walk u through any problems it comes w their box's any troubles or questions as dumb as u may think they will walk u through it over the phone, great customer service 24/7,,call them or ask me, ive been using my bc boxs for years n love them..ps rockwool is great for seedlings all the way to mature plants in dwc...
