Open carry in Texas passes

My opinion for what it's worth:

There is no "tactical" advantage to open carry unless you've got a herd of like minded folks around you with half a useable bean. The only ones that care about open carry are the bad guys who can count.

If you want to carry, get a concealed permit, it makes way more sense. There's also ancillary advantages.

I live in open carry state. I have mixed feelings about it. I open carry a lot. Some people don't have the sense to safely carry.

I have a lot of training. Even took a class on weapon retention. I thought it was the responsible thing to do.

I got a friend that is new to firearms. He does not need to open carry. He has no grasp of basic gun safety. He blindly let's the muzzle point in random directions. He turned one day and the muzzle pointed directly at my head. Loaded and off safety. I took the gun and threatened to punch him in the mouth. I thought about not teaching him to shoot. I figure though it would be safer to teach him gun safety. I'm even going to retake the hunters safety education course with him.
i don't have an issue with guns..but no state allows you to get behind the wheel of a car without licensing..open carry involves the public and it's a disservice to; as well as flat out dangerous as you've experienced..lives will be lost. safety training is paramount..but the state that allows without some sort of certification? what is the message?..think about it.

I can get behind that. Here in Ky you have to take a safety course to hunt or conceal carry. Not open carry. I believe in the right to open carry, its just some are not responsible enough to do it.

I have recently spent quite a bit of time in TX.
I considered moving there.
Upon consideration: Too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
SoFla does not get as hot and it never even approaches the cold I experienced in Harris County.
Also, Florida has a better chance of liberalizing Marijuana laws.
So I remain in glorious SoFla.

Your opinion is not backed by real world examples. Places that do not have forced government intervention on a persons right to defend themselves have lower crime rates.

The message you send is people need permission from nanny, which is absurd, since Nanny is the greatest abuser of people using guns or the threat of them to accomplish it.

Open carry could only help the wild west streets of Chicago and Baltimore!!
The "Ferguson effect" will need to be curtailed somehow. Or, maybe not.
The police are no longer capable.

The New Nationwide Crime Wave
The consequences of the ‘Ferguson effect’ are already appearing. The main victims of growing violence will be the inner-city poor.

We have concealed carry now in Chicago. But I've been. Carrying a .25 in my socks since I was 11. Those strict liberal fucks want all this gun control but there is more guns here then anywhere elsewhere. Just go with the flow guns for everyone including felons. Old young even the blind. Guns for everyone

Haha --- only an idiot would open carry down there.
You'd be lucky if it was just your gun they took.

you'd be smart to hire @theexpress as your tour guide your first time out. it'd be money well spent.

Black lives matter, hands up- don`t shoot......You`ll be fine....

Baltimore records deadliest month in more than 40 years

Does anyone think that open carry would make this city worse???
Hmm.
No. Even the black sheriff of Chicago is pushing for carry by law abiding citizens. AND, everyone of the blacks that were shot by cops recently had a criminal record.

The problem resides with fewer arrests. You can thank the likes of the anti-cop mayor and her cronies for the recent increase in crime. What would the bitch expect, jeez? 38 homicides during May alone. Dumbasses don't get it. If the cops weren't there to provide protection there would be hundreds of black on black crime in Baltimore monthly.

It is what it is...

do you really think open carry is a good idea with all the white on white violence we have seen coming out of texas recently?

it is a persistent culture of white violence and drugs that your own law enforcement types have been warning us about since the 1970s.
