it's a small group of 20,000 fighters. the deeds of this small group are being hung like a banner over all of islam and being used to paint 1.3 billion as barbaric murderers to an already islamaophobic american populace.

it's gonna be great propaganda to use for our next pointless middle east war.

are millions of refugees only a concern when they are fleeing ISIS instead of the barbaric and murderous united states armed forces?

Ok, I get your connection. I don't think the islamaophobic population in the US is anywhere near the proportion of antisemitic Germans in Nazi Germany but I do get your point. I might be wrong about how many xenophobes we have in this country. I don't think its even a significant minority.

This conversation has helped re-tune my ears for what's going on in the media regarding ISIS. So thanks for that.

Its my understanding that panhead's family were Lebanese not Iraqi so what's Buck all bent out of shape over, I don't know. Even so, I'm glad panhead got his family out. That's what happens in a civil war though, whole families get wiped out or displaced on the perception of or actual collaboration. Nasty business, no way we should send troops there.

I do see the propaganda machine in action on these shores. The reactionary right is painting all of Islam as represented by these jihad-is. I dismissed it as nattering by fools but I'll be more sensitive to it in the future.
