Btw, what's the recommended distance from the plant

Ok Yeah, 4'x6' on them bad boys trust me
Running them at 1150w's keep them 3' away.
You can get them a little closer if you do it rite, but not worth it.
Have some fan action blowing in between the tops and the fixture either way, but NOT blowing directly on the fixtures.
I've always rocked regular 1000w'ers over 4'x4'. I'm using 1/3 less lighting now, and still yielding more per area. It's fucking incredible.

Yup! my flower rooms are always on 12/12, i veg in different room/s.
The DE's in my flower rooms are always on max 1150w's.
Except for rite now. I had to throw away a bunch of plants at one of my setups. The plants were almost 5 weeks in fucking russet mites I picked up from some punk ass motherfuckers plat gsc cuts. That son of a bitch! Anyways, I'm way behind now, so i'm actually using one of my bloom rooms to veg for a minute. It's fucking bulshit. But life goes on you know

So I'm running the phanton DE fixtures and they don't seem to have a DE MH bulb out yet. Would I get away with using just hps?

It will be fine. Here's a bunch of test done showing that different hoods make a BIG ASS difference with the same DE bulb. If you have the 5x5 footprint hood, you can get it quite close, actually pretty fucking close as long as room temps are manageable but it has less penetrating power then the 4x4 hoods. I find it pretty funny that a hortilux single ended had more par at all distances then the DE's with the e-pap/ajust-a-wing hoods. The SS AC/DE hood has almost double the par of the gavita. Cant wait to cop me a sun system hood

I was just wondering. I was digging through some pics recently, and I was thinking about the boiling pots over on the big island. My buddy originally from Oahu went to college on the Bi and stayed there for many years(volcano) I've been there many times, I miss it.

quite an experience i bet lol. I remember throwing up at mauna kea while snowboarding. I smoked a fatty with a few friends and had the hardest time breathing up there! I also got sunburned in the snow! And man is it bright as fuck up there, the snow and 10,000ft tropical sun makes it really hard to see.

I have pictures of me when I was a kid jumping over two waterfalls. Love that place! I love all the islands, but the Bi is my favorite.

HPS works fine, just not as well as MH. You could always supplement the HPS light with some cool fluorescent bulbs. They're cheap and they'll add some blue light to the mix.
