Hello all,

I know this is my first post so let me start off by saying hello to everyone here. Glad to be here.

Ok, on with my problem.

I decided to plant out on my lanai of my apartment. So far so good, just a couple of problems.
*I am leaving them outside all of the time.
*They are about 3months old and just under 12".
*Not sure what strain.
*Looks as if just started flowering.
*For the past week or so they have been looking rough(see pics below)
*I know I have spider mites so here is my question.
I cannot find any fertilizer here that I am even remotely familiar with. I am currently living in Japan. Nothing is the same here.
I want to get rid of the mites so I was looking for a quick fix since I don't know any of the pesticides here or fertilizers for that matter.
I was looking for isopropyl alcohol however, no luck. The closest thing they have is ethanol.
1. Can I use ethanol/water instead of the alcohol? If not what can I use?
2. Since I have no idea of what fertilizer to use here in Japan. Any ideas on some home remedies? Does anyone recommend the urine trick?
3. Is leaving it outside all of the time good or bad. Should I move it inside?

Thanks so much for the help. I really want to see these two ladies survive.
I have two plants. The first two pics are just in different lighting. The last pic is well self explanatory. Thing is the last pic plant looks seriously funky, this I don't understand as they sit right next to each other. It looks as if the last pic is burnt or too much heat.

Please help. Thank you.

Yeah, I can't understand that one at all. Like I said both plants are side by side and this one looks the worst. ????

use a mild handsoap mixture and spray the bottoms of your leaves with it or where ever you may see them, that should help and since you leave them outside when they get rained on reapply it. :joint:

Thank you. I will try the soap method.

Also, any idea on why the last one looks so rough??

Lastly, should I bring them inside and set em up with lights or is it ok outside?

Do they still have hope???

the last one looks so bad because the spidermites sucked all the juices out the leaves and make them dry up like that. your plants dont look too damaged they still have a fighting chance, bringing them in would be a good idea if you dont want to keep reinfecting them but I dont know your current housing situation but if you can I would suggest bringing them and attempt to setup some lights. and as for a fertilizer the best thing you can use IMO is human urine dilute it so it has a weak tea apperance that should give them a boost of nitrogen.:joint:

Thanks ever so much for all of the help.

CFL's. . . are you referring to the compact ones. The swirly looking ones? Lastly, sorry for being a noob, once I bring them in. What cycle should I put them on? Thanks again.

One more thing. Which color/temp should I use?
'Warm white' or 'Soft white' 3000 K
'White' or 'Bright White' 3500 K
'Cool white' 4000 K
'Daylight' 5000 K

no problem always a pleasure to help and welcome to RIU. since they are now flowering you should switch them to a 12/12 hour cycle for about 7-8 weeks. and yes the swirly ones, i would go with the daylight because depending on the wattage they may put out a high amount of lumens. you should try to aim for 5-10k worth of lumens.:joint:

I will definitely get on that right away. I just laid a coat of soapy water on them and we will see tomorrow about the mites. I will put on another coat in the morning. Then on Sunday I will go get some lights, rig em up and see how she goes from there. Glad to have your help.
