So I stole borbors light fastening advice, the fixture is now secured by 4 ratchet ropes and doesn't have any more wiggle room at the top of the tent... Canopy is roughly 18 inches away from the plants and they appear to still be stretching.

The light cycle has been dropped to 11/13, pistils are emerging in abundance. I added in the 400w HPS (medium adjustawing with an eye hortilux super hps), it's tilted in towards the rear of the tent because it doesn't fit very well. This brings canopy temps to ~90 and humidity down to 40% during lights on. Also going to place netting horizontally across the tent and tie tops down to it because there isn't really another option unless someone can give me a better idea. Of course this will make watering a PITA, but that's the way she goes... lol.

if you have a booster fan and ducting lying around then adding it as an intake fan might help your temps a lot, I was hitting 90, starting bringing air in from outside, now I get 80 tops

Do you think 90 is too hot? I believe RM3 runs his canopy temps at 89 - 92. If leaves start cupping or they seem stressed I'll do something about it.

They are definitely getting crowded in there, the top third or so of these will be harvested before the bottom because of that. Here's a couple pics of the net to keep height down. Ten gallon pots and too long of a veg time wasn't the best idea, but these babes will still put some flowers out.

Yeah, lots of growth in there, make sure you have good airflow, I do some very selective defoliation if they get too dense. It's a tough call but it comes down to I'd rather avoid mould, even at the expense of a little yield, nothing wrong with that imo.

I decided the screen was a bad idea as the plants were becoming too dense. Went on vacation for four days last Wednesday and they exploded out of the net, one top wad about four inches higher. Also accidentally left a light on in the bedroom without closing the door, no signs of hermaphrodites.

The pots were spread out more for airflow and I have a fan blowing on them to reduce the chance of mold, strengthen stems. Happy growing!

Good choice on removing the screen, they looked too dense/tight for a scrog. Wouldn't worry too much about the light unless it was super-bright, outdoor plants handle all kinds of mild light interruptions at night without problems, full moon for a few nights is no different than a small lamp across the room. My neighbour kept getting drunk and leaving his light on, shining on my outdoor plants and they didn't hermie. I wouldn't purposely create lights leaks but they're overrated and overused as excuses for bad genetics/environment imo.

Thanks for clearing that up about the light leak, I had read something in a book about light leaks reducing yield by up to 30 percent. I removed the top of the tent and tied the LEC to the top of the frame and then zip tied it, about two more inches from the canopy lol..

Yeah I was thinking about what you said and some of the lower leaves on a couple plants looked like they had moisture stress or possibly nute burn. They are getting 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of Peters all purpose every watering, which is every 4-5 days now. Ten gallon pots take a whopping two gallons of water before any runoff is seen, need to raise em up with pvc and get bigger drainage trays.

Several lower leaves on the two plants in the back have started to turn brown and die. Any thoughts on this? Temperature range is now only 64-73 during in a 24 hour period, so I'm going to place a heater in front of them during lights on and shoot for high 70s.

I'm reading Mel Franks Marijuana Growers Insiders Guide for the second time and he states that temperatures in the 70s create the most potent buds. The book was written in 1988 so it's a bit dated, but he also writes that temperatures as low as 81 can lower potency, and a hot chamber with 90 degree daytime temps dramatically decreased THC content. What he doesn't state is how many times, and on how many different strains these tests were done.

I get that sometimes on larger plants with a thick canopy in the first week or two of flowering, just along the bottom if there's a ton of thick growth above like you have going. I think it's just no light getting down there with a thick canopy myself. I trim/clean them up around the bottom after they've begun stretch and once they open up as they stretch they're fine. Getting some of what you're referring to on the 2x 7gal I just threw in, they're only a few days in and just starting to stretch, just leaving them alone and I'll trim/clean up the bottom anyhow in a few days. If the rest of the plant looks healthy idk if it's anything to be concerned about. My temps right now are 80-82F and 67-69F lights off. Cheers.

That is reassuring to hear GroErr, thanks. Got temps up around 80 during lights on, just closed the tent a bit more rather than using electricity unnecessarily with a 1500w heater.. The lame lower foliage doesn't appear consistent in color/shape so it's difficult to tell if it's a deficiency. I just realized that Peters all purpose doesn't contain Ca, and high levels of K could be locking out Ca so I'm backing off on the fertilizer a bit and adding Ca, and Mg with every feeding.

Unfortunately they aren't showing any amber pistils yet, but here's some pron :

Yep, just about. They were flipped on day 52, actually had the lights on 13/11 accidentally for several days instead of 11/13 so that probably didn't help initiate the flowering or minimize stretch. Ordered a thermometer probe so I can check rootzone temps, they are more than likely colder than they should be for optimal vigor.

They look about right for flower development. There could be some extra stretch due to the 13/11, the odd time I'll pre-flip in veg to 14/10 for a week or so to get them pre-stretched. I found that it gets them pre-flowering so flowering time doesn't really suffer. Once I hit 12/12 in the flower room I see flowers within a few days when pre-stretched at 14/10.
