Yeah? Have you used one? I have one on the way now..
Hoping to see it at least cut trim hours in half.. If I could turn 100 man hrs (hand trim) into 33 man hrs (like i'm hearing it does) then I will be very very happy.

Im surprised as well. Theres lots of people out there with them. We did 10 lbs dry in 11 hrs with four individual units last time. Nothing was mine as i was helping a friend out, but im thinking about these for myself. Did you get yours from their website or a different one?

That cordless gtrass shear looks like it might actually work..
But honestly guys... having now used the bonsai hero.. the cord is no problem at all. It stays out of your way, effortlessly. Hard to explain, but the on off switch sits about 1-2 ft away from the scissors, down the cord. The switch has just enough weight to it that if you sit the switch off the table or off to the side it completely keeps the cord out of the way.

My bonsai hero showed up yesterday and it was put straight to the test within a couple hours.
The first 20 mins I was thinking to myself "fuck, this thing is not doing what I hoped."
1 hr later.. we are fucking cruising through the shit.. we couldn't stop talking about how much we loved it. It doesn't take long to get this thing down.
There are a few techniques you can use.. my friend liked to go from the bottom up on the buds.. I preferred to spin the branch from bottom buds to top buds. Both work well.. If you REALLY wanna fly, you can just wave the thing all over the surface and trim that shit FAST.. but with just a little more care you can still blow through the shit but get a cleaner cut.
The quality of trim is excellent.. it is not like taking needle nose scissors and cutting every petiole at the base but I don't like that style of trim anyway. It really does a fine job.
The concerns that myself and many of you had.
-cord dangling/getting cut .. not a problem at all.. the weight of the on off switch 1 ft down the cord holds it out of your way the whole time, effortlessly
-cutting your finger off .. we each hit ourselves once.. nothing more than a little pinch. no skin cut, no blood drawn
There is ONE issue with it though...
It throws little bits of weed all over the fucking place.. I got a piece of trim stick in my fucking eye. it sucked bad. I had to get it out of my eye and ended up with trichs on my fucking eyeball. The key is to keep the branch away from your face. If you have the branch at eye level and less than a foot away that shit will be all over your face. My beard had little weed bits in it
In the same way.. little bits of trim get all fucking over your clothes. I was sweating it on the drive home.. I used a lint roller to get all the bits off but i WREAKED like herb. Next time I will bring an apron and a change of clothes to the trim job.
I think that this is why you do the tips in water every so often.. it catches the little bits better instead of throwing them all over the place.
I am going to order 2 more scissors right away.

If I was just trimming a little personal stash of 4 little 2 footer plants I probably wouldn't bother buying an auto scissor unit. But if you have more.. buy one of these things! I'm telling you.. you'll love it.

It would be awesome to see someone try one of those units that @damnsmoker posted.. they look like they could work.
I would think though that running out of power would get frustrating. Kinda like cordless drills. Lots of people love the cordless drills and impact drivers. I always buy cord drills.. because I know I'm always going to get the same power, hour after hour.
That aside.. I think those grass shears would actually work quite well.

I've been looking some more; Makita makes one that's a bit wider, but takes standard Makita 12V batteries. You can have several charged up, if you have a lot of work ahead of you.

I'm thinking that it may be possible to modify the blades to make the cutting area narrower. I'm also still looking for other power tool companies with standard batteries.

They might be a bit on the heavy side, I haven't seen them in person. Bosch has a 3.6V set, but no interchangeable battery as far as I know.

Yeah. I used water.. but only because I had assumed that the liquid they were dunking the clippers in every so often (in the YouTube video) was water.
Thinking on it.. it was probably alcohol.
I emailed Hans (contact I had for BHero) and asked about the cup of liquid. He said "I've never used it, not sure".
So. It must not be that important.
The alcohol helps though? I'll give that a try. I used a razor blade and alcohol after we finished to clean them up. They clean up pretty damn easily. The only thing I worry about is the sections of metal (bottom and top) that are not accessible to clean.. I worry liquid will get in there and rust it. So I might not use the water again.
Has your friend put a lot of hours on it? I'm wondering how long these motors and DC power boxes will last. If I get 1 year out of it I'll be happy. 5 would be great though.

This thing will have paid for itself on the 2nd day of use.. figuring what I spend to get the job done nornally.. 2 days of use, paid for.
They could double the price and I would still replace an old broken with a new.

They looked like theyd been around for years. From what they were saying you can get a rebuild kit for the trimmers? Maybe? And ya, its alcohol in the cups im thinking. Ya might want to oil em after the water
