neither of these fluoros put out a significant amount of UVB.

The first is a 450nm blue fluoro, spectrum wise its better than a royal blue because its a wider richer spectrum. however efficiency is very low compared to cobs.

The second is actinic blue. This can be usefull to enrich the 400-440 nm range (actinic blue), and
this is NOT UVA (<400nm). These are a nice supplement to cob lighting to widen the spectrum, but the actinic blue leds are more efficient.

if you want to cover the whole UVA+actinic range inexpensively then get some reptile T5s. UVA and UVB leds are kinda pricey
Have YOU tested or run these lamps?

I was directing the poster to someone in the process of testing these very lamps, right now.

Straight from the horse's mouth, if you like...

FWIW, it seems that @RM3 is getting good results from them, too.
So I run these spectrum LEDs over my corals in my fish tank. I ran them over a couple plants vegging to test how they would grow bud and the plants got crazy weird deficiencies. I think you would have to change your entire nutrient regimen when adding actinic blues and 10-20k whites. You can actually do pretty cheap.

I bought a couple of $60 165 watt Chinese LED panels, gutted them and replaced the epi leds with cree xml diodes cost less than $120 for 135 watt panel that should be very efficient to run.

Still running over corals though.

All of it! I really like to see how people adapt LED tech to their own needs.
leds have been in reef tech for a while. I think cobs as well. Pretty much same lighting as me just different spectrum/ lighting schedule. Corals generally need a lot of blue and some high k whites. The mh bobs for reef tanks are 10k and 20k color temp bulbs. But basically actinic and whites anywhere from 8k-20k work well. Generally 2:1 blue:white. Corals are funny because some need very intense lighting and high current and other are on the opposite side of the spectrum and need low light/low flow. Keeping a tank with mixed coral species is fun/a lot of work, figuring out compatibility and placement

Oh yeah, they fight each other if they're not compatible which is fun lol.

I used to be big in salt water reef tanks. lots of fun. clams, tangs and angelfish were my favs. and there is always another crazy coral.
but then I realized if I grew cannabis instead the "lights" would pay for themselves :bigjoint:
