Barneys Farm Cookies Kush Disappointment

bought a 5 pack of feminized cookies kush seeds after seeing the strain take top spot in a cannabis cup division. vegged them for 2 months and flipped them 2 weeks ago. I just got through chopping all five of them down. 5 out of 5 were males. legit males not like 1 top or some half breed hermie. pure male. I have much better than 0% planting regular beans:cry:. no other deficiencies on the plants worthy of noting.

so much time and effort down the drain. will be a sad evening. before anybody claims stress or light/fertilizer issues I can say that in the same room under the same light using the same fertilizer I planted a 5 pack of feminized cotton candy from another breeder. all 5 are female and thriving in the exact same environment.

guess i will send barneys an email to see what they say but i will steer clear of this strain in the future. my experience and 2cents for whatever it is worth.

You should probably steer clear of the "breeder" all together. Just my two cents. I have some freebies from Barney's over the years that I wouldn't gift to my worst enemy. Cheers!
appreciate the advice. certainly leaning that direction.

cuts deep when you have a room set up for 10 plants and you put all the work in during veg then flip and right at the beginning of the easier and much more exciting flowering portion you put half of your healthy plants into the trash bin. sob story i know. not that big of a deal in the long run called life but i was looking forward to seeing all these things flower and sampling a cup winner.

Dude, I felt the same way about CaliConnect a couple of years ago. Just could not get anything from seed to flower, had to cut half of it down and the other half didnt germinate. I spent $800 on that Cali order, I learned a big lesson lol. I started to trust people's opinions a little more about seed breeders after that...
If you are in the market for $50 seed packs, I would get something from Delicious. Bodhi is a little more$70-80, but you would be able to grow every plant out and be happy with it... Mr. Nice is good also, you can find his cheaper "shit" for $50 and you get 20 regular seeds.

I had a handful of Barney's freebies that I just gave away, a real big handful lol... I ran a full pack of Critical kush a couple yrs ago and 3 plants were uniform herm's, like a perfect 50/50. It made my blood go cold when I saw it

I just noticed the first pistils 10 days after the flip of My Barneys CK. Fingers crossed because I have seen 99% bad reviews. BF won't get my business again most likely.

I had a 5 seeds pack of Barney's Farm LSD (feminized) and I know that at least 3 of them ended up female, as intended (the other plants died before showing sex, because of reasons...not related to the breeder ). The three that made it to harvest were healthy, stable and "normal" in comparison to the other plants I grew along with them, which were Greenhouse Seed Company's White Rhinos. Under the same conditions, the White Rhinos got bigger but had deformations, mutations (like leaves with 12 fingers, leaves/buds growing from petioles of other leaves), and just felt like plant versions of Frankenstein.

So my limited experience with Barney's Farm was pretty good, which I definitely cannot say about Greenhouse Seed Company.

Didnt even bother posting my horror stories with my cookies kush, as all were soaked in water none has shown any taproot whatsoever for 24 hours, placed in soil for 2 weeks. All other strains popped except these and cali cons.

Cookies kush is well know to be a hermie monster, hopefully you have better luck with your next strain, try to steer clear of Barneys in future as well, nothing but problems with their genetics

My feminized bf cookies kush was also male but midweeksong sent me out another one and it was female really good quality, no hermie issue, low yielder though. I only had a single, but I thinks it's odd a strain that is only feminized has had so many legit male plants. Mine wAsnt a hermie it was full blown male

We're they puny in size? Smallest plants ever for me! Still no balls. Only pistols but I expect to see herm down the road. Hope not!

Super slow growing in veg, the yield wasn't bad for the size of the plant but considering how slow it grew you would need to veg for 5 months. Smoke is top notch though great quality and potentcy. I only had a single maybe there are faster vegging Phenos so I'm not going to trash the strain off of 1 sample however with the slow veg it might be better suited for Dwc hydro and it took almost two weeks to show pistols after flip however it only took 7 weeks to finish from signs of first pistils

Can't waste 5 months on a hermie prone strain. But I guess maybe find a pheno\plant that passes the stress test and doesn't herm and start cloning. I'd say the plants would be good guerilla grow plants but unsure on how well they would do outside. Saw notes to stay indo or greenhouse to reduce risk of mold they have outdoors.

I'm going to order a full pack and see what I can get out of it. It's hard to judge a strain off of one seed. I'm sure there are better faster vegging phenos and I didn't have any hermie issues but it also wasn't stressed at all either. So not sure what it could really tolerate

I've only popped 3 of 5 so far. All popped quickly and always look healthy so far. Just horrible reviews 9 out of 10 times by pple. Peppermint kush plants look much better than CK. Taller. Easier to LST, and loves to be topped. I won't re order from Barneys tho. Why not try out proven winners like bodhi strains? I will be next time.
