not at all. every setup is different, although physics dictates that if you want a deeper canopy, expect to increase both light intensity and distance (so the distance from top of canopy to bottom of usable grow zone is a smaller percentage of the overall distance from bottom of canopy to lights

in other words, if your lights were 1 foot away and optimized for top of canopy intensity, by the time you get a foot deep in the canopy, youve DOUBLED your distance to lights

if your lights were 10 feet away and optimized for top of canopy intensity, by the time you get a foot deep in the canopy, youve only increased your distance to lights by 10%

inverse square law dictates that the farther a light source is away, deeper usable cnopy can be.

and no this really doesnt give hps which is typically run at a larger distance, an advantage, because you can put teh same luminosity of cobs up there at the same distance (and it would be superior- super uniform)
Thanks, yea i keep my lamps super close. Honestly i guess it depends on how familiar one is with there strain. We've all or most of us have had to deal with bleaching. Quick question, If one does build lets say one of those 16 cobs 800 watt fixtures can they stay below 24 inches in lamp to top of canopy and still get that 5x5 foot print?

These are real world results. Johnson CX-9 in a 4x4. Customer in CO emailed me the results today. Sorry guys but I'm going to have to say I don't think a 1000 h.p.s. wouldve done any better in there. He has been growing for several years and says he has well over 2 units from 499 watts......

But you know a 1000 watt pulls 2 units. And that is a wonderful yield for 499 watts. Is the quality suspect to the farmer? Like could of he kept the lamps a little closer? What strain?

Yeah, 2 lbs is great from 500 watts. It looks like that may have been pulled a little early on top of what looks like heat issues, which is interesting.

Sorry to tell you, that is not very impressive, fluffy buds with little crystals. Maybe get a better tester with some stronger genetics.

it doesn;t even look dried yet. but he has over 2 lbs.lol
How long you been growing that you can't give a general estimate after trim? Dude it doesn't matter like I said it wouldn't matter if he hit three under 24 hr surveillance. You would have something bad to say. The other strain looks alot better look in the whole canopy pictures. He stated those from seed and killed that big buds mom lol. Plus he's moving and chopped earlier than he wouldve liked.

it looks like a lot because its all airy and foxtailed and wet. heat issues as stated before. thats how long i have been growing. i recognize growing issues when they arise.

He's happy with the light and that to me is all that matters to me. I haven't seen a while lot of 4x4 tent grows with 2+ in the end.

Well as soon as it's dry I'll be sure to report. I'm not flipping crap around on you. No excuses to make. He has 2 I believe it myself. I've seen enough to know.

Now i am sorry but numbers are indicating 1.5 un consistent with Diy Cree and that is 400 watts so 600 dry grams ??? your saying with another 100 watts more he got 900 grams or 2 pounds ??? who are we to believe ??? you or actual members like Greengene, SPL etc dude the question is how long have you been growing ??? if you think that is 2 pounds

Now pictures can be deceiving you know i mean wow i looked at some members bud shot and it looked like wow them buds are monsters yet when he put something beside it owe and that something was a fucking Bic lighter if you catch my drift
it takes a shit load of buds to make 1 pound let alone 2 pounds so if your telling us that there is 8 pounds wet worth of buds in that picture
SORRY i call BS here still waiting on a diy to do something like this on 5 gallon an not one but a bunch :)
and not Bic lighter bud shots :) gallery_11738_4816_133840.jpg gallery_11738_4816_179125.jpg gallery_11738_4816_133840.jpg

Heat issues? He says it was always around 80-82. We will see about airy. He says they are dense and once again I don't question him because i dont think he has a reason to lie. Everyone's a skeptic.
