What else is gained other then low power bills?
Density, quality. My HPS lamps didn't produce great expression. My 860W CDM lamps are too fucking hot to get very close to the plants. COB LED will be cooler so I plan to see if I can use that property to increase yield per square foot, aka density.

I don't think people have posted better quality cob vs hps. Its same as. Even the tests have proved it. Theres like 3 people showing prior test results me included. Everyone right around the same. Actually 4 that one guy show'd that 30% that he bred himself.

Respectfully i diss agree. Gardening practices and light management is the key to great coverage and yields.
In ten plus years from soil to under current HPS to led. All HPS has always had heavier yeild in the center. Take your center bud weighed from farthest bud there is less weight.

Gavitas coverage is there coverage. Before that with any other HPS I don't care what reflector you use. You'll always have center directly under the light heavier yeild. Progressively smaller farther from center.
Again if you take away apical dominance you can beat what you are talking about. Every light gets does what your talking about, the smaller bud theory as you go down a plant.

Ridiculous yields from spaces that wouldn't yield that much with traditional lighting.
Increased resin production.
Lower canopy temps for same ppfd.
Deeper canopy "penetration".
Uniform foot Print, alleviating the hot spot directly beneath the bulb.

Just to name a few...
Come on....more resin really? The only way that's possible is with UV light ,and i'm sorry to tell you , COB LIGHTS HAVE ZERO UV LIGHT , ZERO.

Possibly in a tent idk I've always grown in a room flat white paint on walls ceiling and floor and alway had center mass yeild more.

Agree to disagree it's cool I can see uniformity in quality and weight in a tent. In a more open room I've never seen perfect uniformity close but a noticeable difference by eye.

Lower canopy temps is awesome bro, But your not getting any more resin production then i am at hps and I'm not clowning leds at all, i want one and will get one. For the reason of lower electric bills if i was to major switch and to cool canopy temps so the electric bill could be even lower.

HID lights penetrate WAYYYYYY further than LED's , heck a gavita is REQUIRED to be hung a minimum of 2 feet and really is best at above 3 feet, there is NO LED that can be hung that high and still have the intensity that a HID light has. That's why LED's are best used with scrogs. If they have to penetrate a deep plant you will NEVER finish the bottom buds or even under the main canopy.

Have to agree LEDs are best utilized in SCROG. That said you measure your par on a led 12" under a led or a Gavita 3' away the led will beat it.

I hope thats not the case. Id be pretty sad about that. I think Gene grows some pretty big trees and his netting may be only for structure. I don't know that to be a fact though, just what i remember seeing i think.
I'm biased I have never flowered without SCROG. Im OCD, enjoy training my bonsai ladies to be as level as possible and fill the net.
