Like lock out tag out?...no..they don't even train ppl on that shit...when I first went to work on some equipment I asked if I had to go shut the main breakers off and lock it out and I was laughed at....i worked in the coal mines so I am familiar with lock out tag out and shit..but this shit hole doesn't give a fuck...
Sounds like they are gonna do all they can so that u don't get work man's comp. Sorry to hear about you hand. Although you are right, you are very lucky to have an arm even.
Btw guys I'm interested in coming to the BBQ this yr would be my first year and if it's in Colorado I have to cross about 6 states? But I know it would be worth it. Can anyone pm me details??? Or is location decided closer to date?
Also I have a huge swamp I'd like to grow in but I really don't know how it could be done...

I'm not looking to get paid for it...I just want my bills paid for...if it was my fault I would pay it myself but when some idiot about kills me the company can pay for it since they hired someone so stupid
I understand some people don't want personal gains. But this is what stops companys from cutting corners to save money. It's no different than getting fined. For example not giving employees certain training wich puts people's lives in danger. Just another way of thinking about it. And the sad thing is it all revolves around $

True...but this is a small business and the man gave me a job that helped keep me from going to jail when I needed one...so I kinda feel like I owe him that....but if he starts with this b.s it was my fault ...well let's just say he better get a lawyer

As a supervisor it is an obligation and responsibility here to ensure everything is/has been done to make the work place safe. This obligation doesn't stop at the top but down to the foreman and lead hand, and front line worker. The fucks who laughed at locking/tagging should be fired and that company needs to do some serious training. I spend two hours a week training the whole company about different aspects of job safety and as much as its a pain in the ass I get to go home and know that I've done all I can to keep them alive. I was doing research on arc/flash training and watched a vid called Donnies accident and that really opened my eye's to the affect an accident can have, not only to the victim, but his family, a must see. Sorry for the rant, I'm high and this stuff has become something very close to my heart. Safety was a huge joke 3 years ago at our place and it's amazing how the mindset has changed. No longer are you told to put on your big boy pants when asking for a safe method of work.

Energy sources to machinery that needs to be fixed should always be isolated to prevent accidents ...i never used to think like that 8 yrs ago but now i do

When I worked in the mines we done a lot of shit we shouldn't have just to keep production running...not so much with electrical shit...underground when u get shocked u won't even know...ur dead... it this is a lil poe dump mill...about three years ago they had everyinw sign papers saying they went over all the training and they didn't do shit. ...I'm pretty big in saftey myself ...my bf ...the boy I grew up with..hi name is tattooed across my heart ...died in the mines from being ran over by a scoop...killed him instantly ...and iv seen ppl loos hands..break arms...loose eyes...cush ribs...all that...mostly cause they were cutting corners....I could sue them bit that's not me
..he helped me out when I needed it badly. ..but that's no excuse for lacking in the safety depo...I meen we have about 23 ppl who work here...most are ppl who never graduated high school...and are too dumb to get a job elsewhere. ..I lost my miners card cause I refused to take a drug test after they tested me 3 days in a row..only me...I passed them all but I smoked a J after the last one thinking they wouldn't do not again...I went from Making 33.60 an hr with full benefits..vacation...and a chance to really move up...I was about to take my bossing class which would of put me in the $40hr range...now I make 12 a fucking hr and kill myself at work...plus I work with untrustful ppl who are fucked up on pills all day and are still drunk from the night before...fuck a lot of them drink on lunch. ..and one of the ones who turned the belt on me is one of those ppl....but what really pissed me of is what he said...he said it wasn't him...the belt just come on by its self sometimes.....that made me want to stick him inside a saw...

They pushed lockout tags on us when I was in the navy 30 years ago. Can't imagine any business ran by anybody with commonsense not trying to protect the business entity from liability, even if you are a sorry pos who doesn't gaf about somebody's hand or life.

Honestly it's a hard mindset to change top down. Here if there is an injury and it's serious, hospital visit, etc. It's investigated and people are charged. I myself used to have the attitude fuck that, never happen to me, and employers would get pissed off if safety cost them money. Now I think it's worth it to ensure mine and others families do not endure hardship due to me.

Many don't and yes it takes the fear of huge fines and liability to get them on track :(.
