First Grow :) (Cheap CFL grow)

Okay so I had these 2 bagseeds and I planted them about 3 weeks and a half ago and this is what they came out looking like so far.

I wanted to know if this is basically the first stage of Vegetation.

Even though I know I shouldn't, I diluted about 20 ounces of water with one teaspoon of GrowBig and I put it in a spray bottle and I moistened the soil. I don't spray directly on the plants. Just a mist in the air for humidity.

I just started giving them this water about 2 days ago. The yellowing on the leafs were there before I put nutrients in the water. So I'm guessing its because the plant had water on it and the lights burned through it.

I don't overwater my plants, at all and I usually keep the temperature at 70 through 80.

I also have it next to my window so it has plenty of natural air flowing through it via the fan as well.

The left light is 2700k 23w
The right light is 3500k 23w

I will get more later, I'm on a tight budget :(

This is the tall plant which is about 5 1/2 inches.

This is the yellowing:

Tell me what you guys think. Suggestions and ideas, please, share the knowledge :)

First off welcome to RIU!

Whats your medium consist of? Depending on grow medium, you may not need nutes for a while yet. It may be a little early for the as the tips themselves look like a little nute burn IMO. Do you know the ph of your water and what type of water source are you using tap, ro, etc? If your going to use cfl I would definitely get them as close to the plant as you can as your stems appear to be stretching. Also, for veg they recommend a 6500k light and flower is 2700k. Noting that you are working on a tight budget, I personally would run a mix spectrum the who time and use some of each color bulb.

If you know you shouldn't then why do it?

I just wanted to experiment. Thought this was vegetation stage so I figured it would be ready to take nutrients (at least alittle).

Well depending on the medium you have chosen to grow in, there may already be plenty of nutes in there. For instance, I used mainly Roots Organic which has all the nutrients a plant need for the first 3-4 weeks of life. Unfortunately, it was actually a little too nutrient rich for seedlings so caused some slight burning of my plants at first. However, without know what your medium is a I can't really say. I mean ffof, roots, promix, etc have plenty of food in them for the plant to use for a good 3 weeks anyways.

However, if you chose something more along the lines of say MG these often have slow release nutrient balls in them and are often designed to feed a plant for 4 months. The added nutrients in mediums like MG is why many people will strongly advise against them.

With the fact that you are using tap water I would make sure you are letting it sit in a large tub or container for 48-72 hours this will ensure its at room temp obviously, but more importantly it will help dechlorinate the water.

Another thing to consider is with cfl you can get very close to the plants generally within a couple inches anyways. It appears in the one photo that you have tied up your stem for extra support, while doing this you will want to make sure that you don't have it too tight as you could be in a sense cutting off circulation to the plant.

Makes sense bro, I've been doing that too.

I'm just growing in soil that I bought from a discount store because I left my MG soil at my sister's house.

Okay so here's an update.

I added a 3rd light bulb. It's a 23w 5000k and the spectrum is bright.

They actually seem to be loving it. Their new set of leaves are actually growing faster and the lumens within their area reach 2000 on my ph meter.

The new one is the single one hanging.

The tall plant is about 7 1/2 inches

[The second plant is about 5 1/2, it gained an inch.

You can transplant those down to their first set of leafs. This will give your stem more support and the stem will shoot out roots.

Keep those CFL bulbs within one to two inches of your plants to effectively use them.

Sounds good bro. Gotta' do that, thanks.

So it's been about a month since I've took pictures of the plant and I did some cropping during the time as well. Check out what's been going on.

The first week I switched it to 3 23w CFL's at 2700k each and put it on a 12/12 schedule. Forcing it to go into flowering mode. This was intentional.

It's about 12 1/2 inches
