Clone update: I reintroduced them to the outdoors 4 days ago. I put them in complete shade and have been gradually increasing direct sunlight. 1 died. It got knocked over and bent the stem. The other 3 have brown tips on most of the leaves but still lookin pretty good considering I didn't do any fancy cloneing techniques.

I did my first water toting and glad I did. It's been hot and dry. The ladies were glad to see a drink. I'll be glad to see a shower or two come thru cause carrying 10 gallons of water thru the woods sucks ass. I got up before daylight to get it done. I think it would have been unbearable any other time. With autopilot off for the foreseeable future I'm going to just focus a a few and let the others deal with nature.

My patches get differing degrees of care. The FP patch has water nearby, so they are getting 4-5 gallons each, twice a week and growing like crazy. Some of the others I haven't been to in a month. Odds are, they are growing much slower.

And my shoulders hurt like a son of a bitch from several days of water carrying. We need rain in a big way. But this time I would like to see the 3+ inches spread out over several days, not all at once.

9 of 10 have sprung from their shells. I am optimistic about #10. I think I can see a little bulge in the soil. I'm pretty pumped.

The tomatoe seedlings are doing well. They have spent the last 2 days outdoors. The wind was rough on them the first day. Gusty at times. Luckily I stopped by the house for lunch. The stems were all laying mostly horizontal. It was an oh shit moment. I added some more material to support their stalks and set up a board for a wind screen. They had perked back up by the time I got home from work. They get full morning and afternoon sun and from 12-:00-5:00ish they are in the shade. Thank you Mr live oak tree. Will introduce all day sun as they get stronger.

There is a sense of pride. Look at what I have created. I am all powerful. As I say that, a more humble thought comes to mind. I have done no magic. Life did not spring from my finger tips. I am merely a cultivator. Perhaps that's the true task , purpose, reason for living, the only thing worth putting effort into. Cultivating. My family. My relationships. My environment. Smh. That's some good ass weed Dano. This may not be the aha moment later when this wears off. But in this moment perhaps I've found meaning I had never considered. I'll ponder when less stoned. Till then I'll get about my day and cultivate.
Just read your post that was great

No rain here in the last 3 weeks and it's starting to take a toll. The plants look exhausted and so am I. I gave 5 gallons each to my 4 favorite plants.

Back at the veggie garden things are going great. 6' tall Brandywine mater plants are putting off some huge fruit. Sweet corn has about done it's thing and the pepper plants are loaded down. Eating well here.

I'm getting rain now, but the three weeks before this one had been hell. I spent every minute I could slip off in the woods.

We have had storms for about three or four days straight now. I have more tomatoes than will fit in my trench, so I have them setting in aluminium roaster pans filled with water. All of them are above the cages, and the wind is knocking about half of them over every day. I guess I need another trench.

Still no rain to speak of. Watering as much as I can but I'm falling behind. I had a plant attacked by a rabbit I guess. Nipped the two main branches that were knee high. It was a poor little plant. The branches were just a little smaller than a pencil in diameter. You could see the teeth marks. It didn't appear to mess with the leaves after the branches fell to the ground.

Transplanted one of the clones early in the week and came back to water again Saturday morning and she's liking her new spot.

The one plant I have in straight native soil is doing well. She is the biggest by far. Looks like she has started to flower as well.View attachment 3729255
How early is this for your location? If I'm remembering right, mine didn't start until late August or early September last year. Now that I've found RIU, I can just look at my posts next year to see when everything started this year.

I found some white spiderweb type stuff wrapped completely around some branches. I sprayed with fungicide cuz I just don't know. I'm going to dose all of them with bt one evening real soon to hopefully help with bud worms.

I've seen a little of that webbing on a couple of mine too. I've got to spray my garden soon, so I'll mix up a little extra in a spray bottle. But with me only checking 2-3 patches a week, it will take a while to make a complete circuit.

All of my plants are now showing sex. The ones that haven't been eaten by deer or rabbits or bugs. Seems everything likes weed. I found the last 2 males. I pulled the one that was in the same plot with 2 females. The other fella was by his lonesome so I'm going to try to get some pollen from him. Growing weed in the bush is a pain in the ass. I'm going to have to step up my game and protect the last few or mother nature is going to rob me blind.
