I did the same kind of deal //20w LED flood light with a fridge..then went to 130w CFL.

why aren't they growing up? not enough light? wrong shade of blue?
It seems this never got addressed:

In blue light cannabis will do that... veg out instead of up... it's one reason indoor growers use blue spectrum LEDs in veg... shorter node spacing and wider bushier plants. Nothing "wrong" happening there.

Please keep us updated, I love experiments :-D.

I switched to LED for the cost of the light/power (got a cheap 300w for ~$80)... I'm flowering under it with some CFLs (the light isn't meant to do my size space quite) for additional light. Doing good.

I'm definitely going to get a big led grow light for my next set up I pulled one of the Indica dominant strains and took some cuttings they seem to be doing alright time will tell. been 3 days now they look good. cfls working quite well I'm impressed. I am able to position
my contraption super close to all my budding nodes

I have some warm white cfls wondering if they might help with flower development or will the difference between so small my warm white bulbs are only 11w each id have less wattage of light 40 watts less

Shy blush... my experiment has been with what all the stress of my environment will do to my plants... it is super wet and cold, well cool where I am (50-60s in the past moths), and I was giving them kinda minimal input in terms of nutes, lights etc... basically what I could get for the least amount of expense in both resources and time and effort, as well as to see the worst of the problems I'll be facing.

I was so haphazard (like a bad backwoods lean to) I was a little less than keen to share pics, so I didn't take many... then my camera mem card crapped out and lost the ones I did have. I will take new ones of the current state (which is a little more presentable).

buy one diy cob and use that at 50w more effective with passive heatsink and 50w or 100w driver. peace

sounds good one sentence. seems easy. sounds fun guess I'm kicking myself for using CFLS but il contrapt some space buckets haha and get me 2 of those diy cobs

See:

Use them for supplemental, not as replacements.
If that's not possible, keep the wattage over the kelvins. and remember, blue for veg, red for flower (in CFL that's Red: Soft/Warm White (2700K – 3000K), Mid: Bright White/Cool White (3500K – 4100K), and Blue: Daylight (5000K – 6500K).

"Soft" White you may find labeled on boxes in stores more commonly ad "Warm" White. Just FYI.

little update

found these guys crawling all over my soil. I've done a fair bit of research and tells me so far they are soil mites. apparently they don't harm the plants as their beneficial. may have come with my fertiliser I think no idea. wasn't patient enough to get a clearer picture but if you zoom in you can make it out. looks like a gooey white tick has 2 distinctive orange spots in the middle of its abdomen. it's not the 2 spotted spider mite thankfully. also plants are not showing signs of a root root pest. atleast not yet!

An update week 7 day 4 flowering. Just built this for the next grow its not completed yet but want to finish current plants off while I finish building still need to wall the back and top cover it with roof plastic then build a reflector hood with off cuts of the mesh (just thought of that now. Going for an auto SCROG with 320 watts and counting CFLs still have 10 lights to go in

Haha it's temporary while I finish off current grow I'm trying to source Mylar so I can finish off the box. T will be walked with Masonite or chipboard to mount some T5s amd extraction fans figure I won't need ventilation and scrubbing until flowering which would give me ample time to craft a scrubber and mount and install an extraction unit

Got a loupe 90% milky triches on indica 70 red pistols. Cut her up. Nuggets are dense and sticky dripping in resin.

I cut the branches up and placed them on a steel utensil when I was done I noticed bud shapes sticky bright yellow residue left behind. Real proud I've left the Sativa to go for a couple more weeks. Been a blast onto the next one
