Only to setup.

It was a bad year here. Hot and little rain. My no till garden with mulch and organic material to hold moisture actually did better than most other around here and was less work.
I did a few full organics this year first time ever ..........the reason I said it's more work is because it is at the beginning ....and I was referring to people who grow soley for profit and wana do things the easiest way and get there dollar as fast as possible .....I'm anxious to see how the taste is compared to what I've been doing for 20 years .....as you know I grow for my sis and several people like her ....so I'm all about hard work being a farmer and cattle rancher as a living ......gardening is my hobby and to help people not a means of $$$$. I personally don't mind hard work as long as it's smart work .......either way you get what you put in ......seems like there's no patience anymore .....now now now

I have a huge compost pile that I put leaves, plants from the garden, chicken and cow manure.

I add alfalfa, compost and worm castings. Fresh cow manure.

I mulch real good.

I have a rain catch and use a cast iron pump to water.
Nice on the rain catch! Mom used aged manure from the guy down the road, that and I forgot she did add some worm castings as well from a bed they kept in the woods. That's another project I've got to get going on is a worm bin. Mulching is super important. But I digress, it was something I really didn't do enough of in my cucumber and pepper beds this year.

Been working to get up to speed on all the things we've got going on around here between the snakes, plants, garden and dogs and preparing for the busy tax season. All things considered though, we've made a pretty big jump from where we were this time last year. I'm pretty excited about the new grow we just started, instead of two plants we've bumped it up to four and he's thinking of adding two more.

I'm adding drip lines to each row of my garden and going to a dc pump and solar panel with a timer.

I don't have to weed or hoe it, Once I put the water on a timer I will only have to go check on it.

Thank you.
My childhood home there was a garden and we tilled manure in it in the fall and spring for years. It got to a point we only had to add some every few years. Go turn a shovel over and have enough worms to go fishing with. I didn't really even need tilling.

This may sound stupid coming from a dude who lived/grew buds indoors in Salinas for many years right next to strawberry fields, artichoke fields, lettuce, etc, but how do they feed them crops? Alls i ever see is water being given, and cropdusters.
Is it just whats in the soil/dirt? From rotating crops? Serious question my bro
They most likely use salts.

Though some mountain areas have very rich soil with no need to use salts.

Even the ones that use salt based usually still rotate crops and plant cover and nitrogen fixing crops.

Ok so you would was the pesticides off the outside only huh. Anything you give your plants. Will store them in their fat cell equivalents. And my arguement was on the grounds that not flushing can make for shotty smoke. I'm sure everyone has had a joint that wouldn't stay lit Or ashes were black and not grey. Try smoking a bag of flushed and unflushed then come argue with me
Here's my argument, you're on your first grow how the fuck can you compare flushed vs non flushed? Do you have the people your buying from fill out questionnaire's because that's the only experience you could have. Try doing it for yourself before parroting bullshit you read on forums. Learn what curing is and how to do it. One of the most important parts of growing there is. People spend months growing plants and then fuck them up at the end. It may take a few tries to get it right, but once you do you won't waste time flushing anymore.

I don't see it as a nutrient companies way to make more money.
It really was bullshit put forth by a bunch of dumbshits on overgrow.
I agree but I disagree too, Nutrient companies put out things like flawless finish or fox farms bush doctor to make money on something that is totally unneeded, Due to the fact that people will buy it thinking it's the best for the plants. I guess you cant blame a company for capitalizing on a niche :)

One of my grows is on a hillside so I'm able to gravity feed with omitters ....large tank that is refilled by the same pump for my well with a float and a few one way check valves so when I mix nutes In my garden tank I don't cross contaminate my emergency drinking water tank that I have for the house .....power loss is a normal thing out here people driving drunk hitting poles etc etc ..only time I walk the hill is for my own pleasure of checking my plants and making sure there's no unwelcome guests munching my girls

with a watering can (3g), and walking back and forth to fill it at the spigot on the side of the shed...

i remember getting bitched at by my parents when i spent MY money running hoses and sprinklers on 6' posts, and just turned the water on. the 'waste of water' was a sin that would send me to hell five times over...
Not smoking\growing the devils lettuce? Lol
