I like your style, i am a big fan of Thrift stores and will never pass on a good deal if I see one. I bought 11 brand new, never used Henkel Steak knives for 75 cents. They were wrapped together with Scotch tape and not a scratch on them. There is a back pack with frame i saw yesterday and I am thinking if I go light my back should not bother me too badly. I know when to stop. Love the woods man. You are getting me amped for backpacking again. i need to buy a beater acoustic guitar ( a cheap used one that I can expose to the elements without too much damage) to take with me when me and DblJJ get to work at Wildwood. Break up the monotony. I won't take my good one out in the elements, weather can adversely affect it.

Most of the guys who serve, join because of socio-economic reasons. I had no plans of joining, but when school and romance were crashing and burning around me, to {the 19 year old} me it sounded like a good way out of town. I did not agree with Aunt Ronnie's foreign policy, but he never asked me what I thought.

That's funny you said Aunt Ronnie. I ass hi me you meant Reagan. He was responsible cor shuttering several State Mental institutions and thus began the homeless population here in California, then the rest of the states who had so called Conservative leadership followed suit. Reagan said the families should take care of their own sick, well some families dropped their sick adolescent kids off at the state facilities and abandoned them. I have close personal knowledge of this. Right now the largest Mental facility with the biggest population in the US is the Cook County jail, Chicago Illinois.
They put his library in our county. He is buried there. I would give money to go piss on his grave.

Yes. He was a bad one. And toward the end, he wasn't even home. What got me worse than anything else was the Marines in Beirut. It happened right as I was getting out. I didn't keep up with foreign policy then, but later I learned what a cluster fuck that whole thing was. No clear orders on what to do, and no real reason for being there, other than flying the flag. We bomb some hillside with an old battle ship, then are surprised the Marines are attacked. Some of the same folks who did that, we are dealing with today.

In the MG room where I stood so many watches, a fellow EM who could draw cartoons had drawn on the back of a frame {big steel I beam} Reagan with his pants around his ankles jerking off, saying, "what are doing looking back here?" It was a couple of years before it got painted over. Most of the sailors that I knew didn't care for him.

It takes some time, and lots of luck, but you can outfit yourself for just a few bucks. I have mostly top of the line hiking clothes, all bought second hand. Down jackets, nylon zip-off pants, smart wool socks, wool and silk long underwear, drywear base layers for cold and hot, omni-shade Columbia shirts. I have way too much hiking clothing. You can only take one of each, and I have 4 and 5 of each on some things.

There was a guy named Forrest hiking the AT a couple three years ago with an interesting stringed instrument. I will look for a video and post it.

That is a guitar made by Martin Guitars of Nazareth Pennsylvania.for use in the great outdoors! It's body is a smaller form factor to accommodate the wilderness hiker. I have a standard drednaught style Model D35 Martin Guitar. Fun fact: The Martin family were the first European violin guild members to build a Guitar. It cost them their Guild Membership as Guitars were "Instruments of the Devil" played by Gypsies. Seeking refuge from retaliatory forces they did what all my ancestors did, come to the New World, America. Landed in the port of Philadelphia set up shop near Hagerstown and started producing one of the most sought after Guitars in the World to this day. I am looking for a used one like the gentleman has in the pic. Hard to find.

Forrest had the same guitar the next summer on the trail. It had a big chunk broke off the back, but still sounded pretty damn good. I saw he was at Gooder Grove in Franklin NC a couple three weekends ago, playing a more traditional shaped, but still small, guitar.

I spent three days on the trail this week. But I had to leave before my new sleep pad came in. First night there was a houseboat on the river running a generator all night. Guess who forgot to pack his earplugs? So not a lot of sleep that night. The camp the next night was no where near a river or houseboats. Got a good night's sleep, even with my old sleep pad. While I didn't realize it was 420 on Thursday, I got pretty smoked up anyway.

There is a fine line with Lacquer. I have known individuals who will remove the finish off a guitar to help with natural amplification. Fender has acoustic models that just don't sound well, but they make great electrics/ and hollow body electrics.

I did a lot of research into stringed instruments from the late 1600 and early 1700's when I was writing. The types of wood growing in certain places had a big impact on the industry. Just like cars later, the brands we know today were men who stood out from the crowd.
Forrest burst on the AT scene from Seven's Hiker Trash Videos a few years back. He had a fresh young just out of college girl hiking with him. I guess she went back to the real world. Haven't seen her the last couple of years.

My wife doesn't snore, thank the good Lord. But she does like to watch TV in bed, as well as keeping a light on. Both things I don't sleep well with. And I like to keep the radio on the BBC turned down low. She doesn't sleep well with that.

She has trouble with sinus drainage, and uses one of those elevated beds. In another room. That works out good for both of us.

I have a few Peach seedlings going. Not enough for a real thread, so I'll put them here for a lack of a better place.

I started out with 6, then 2 died, leaving me with 5. Wait. What?

When I watered them on Wednesday before I hit the trail, there was a sprout under one of the older ones. I moved it to one of the pots from a cashed one.

The found sprout was still alive last night when I went back to water. Didn't get a picture though. The other four were all doing pretty good. Proving that plants grow better when you are hiking. Well, it didn't disprove it.

I like the fat leaf pheno on the Peach. There was plants like this with the Rotten Stinking Bastard {sister strain to Peach} as well.

Peach is Bag Seed Tester #2 {Big & Stinky} X Bag Seed Tester #2 {FP#3}. When grown with lots of food and water so it is full of big heay bud, there were bud worm problems. The ones grown in Darwin Dope patches had no issues. Mostly I'm just wanting to see if there is going to be any early flower problems planting when I did. I may kill them later, or just stash them away in a Darwin Dope patch. I have lots of good strains now. No need to grow problem ones.

Rosewood, mahogany ,Norwegian spruce are still popular, but ya do not see one piece Rosewood backs on any guitars now days. Over harvesting then Conservation efforts slowed all that down. Alaskan spruce is good tone wood for tops and maple does well all around, the tighter the grain better the sound. Flame maple is a great tone wood too.
Sounds like your bugout patch is coming along well.
The dragons blood cactus grows in Madagascar... the sap was what Stradivarius used to make stain for his violins.

Peach is Bag Seed Tester #2 {Big & Stinky} X Bag Seed Tester #2 {FP#3}. When grown with lots of food and water so it is full of big heay bud, there were bud worm problems. Me and DblJJ will be planting in just a few more days up in Wildwood after GH construction. It has warmed up like usual after Easter and no chance for frost anymore, we cracked 300 beans. Going to be a banner year.

Not sure if you heard my story. A little over 12 years ago the wife threw her hat into the ring for a very good job here in my little county. She ask me to stop smoking and growing while she did. I stopped and she got the job. She made lots of money for where we live, nearly 1M over the 12 years. But she has retired now, and I'm growing again. But in the interim, I became a respected member of the community. lol.

It was a chance for me to grow without anyone knowing it. I had got out of my old circle of grower and doper friends, and didn't really want to get back in. Most were not folks I would hang with if it wasn't for the dope. So my problem was finding good seeds. I ask one or two who I knew used to grow, but were not openly stoners. They never came up with any seeds though.

All my old seeds were no good thanks to a tragic tripped breaker incident. The BIL gave me a few of an old strain he had crossed back in 1988. I called that strain Jack Carlos Cross, since the two growers were Jack and Carlos. Those were the CP1, CPDA, Slo2, GV1, BP, SOL, etc, etc, that I grew out in '15. {I did get a little early start on the wife's retirement} Last spring I was running low on smoke, so I ask my buddy to pick me up a bag. BST#1 was bought in March '16 for 130 an oz. BST#2 was bought in April for about the same price. Hurricane Head is BST#2 {Big & Stinky} X BST#1. Peach and Rotten Stinking Bastard are BST#2 {Big & Stinky} X BST#2. Little Sister and Prickly Pear are BST#2 {but not B&S} X BST#2. The BST#1 was my favorite, but didn't save any of the males. I still have a few of the original seeds, so will try for some this year.

Last year I crossed BST#2 Big & Stinky with CP1. I grew out some of them in the Spring crop, and liked how they looked. Haven't really done any smoke test yet. I crossed Powernap X Sinmint Cookies and Blueberry X Shark Shock with two of them in the Spring crop. Will have to grow them out to see what is what.

But now, mostly thanks to good friends on this site, I have seeds from much better strains. Anything I do with the BST's will be just to have something to play with.
