Help please! Week 4 flower

Not sure what's going on with these girls. Temps are about 80 with 40 humidity.
2 plants
same flip time
same mother
same love
different cuttings.
I have fruit flys in my tent, depleting in numbers but still cruzing around.
Soil is peat moss, composted manure, perlite, some of my own compost, blood meal, bone meal, lime, alfalfa.
Trying to stay organic but if it means saving them I'll try anything

I use pro mix so I can't help you. Mixing your own soil can be great. But you better get it right. Once it's in there if quantities aren't right or ratios are off correcting it isn't easy. Did you let it "cook"? Something is wrong for sure.

I have a bin of pro mix organic plus some added goodies cooking now. I'm afraid your right that I got this mix wrong. Didn't have a selection of soil when I started just left overs.

Most likely not fruit flys. most likely Fungus nats! Research up on them and make a decision on how you want to control this pest problem. Lots of methods to control them organically and chemically. Simplest is to let the soil completely dry out before waterings (lift pot up to see how heavy it is, If its heavy do not water!) Putting little sticky yellow fly traps everywhere works really good to cull the adults.
Edit: They look over/ under watered and a little hungry.

Hard to tell when everyone giving different answers but looks overwatered to me the way it's drooping plus it causes some of the other growth to go yellow

This pictures were taking before they got any water. Been trying to kill the infestation so soil had been drying. But I could be watering too heavy..

Your correct Nats not flys... I water every 2-3 days. With about half gallon of water each time. 3 gal pots. Think I should change it? They have been starved of nutes too but I finally have some good feed for them. Hopefully things look up

Thanks for the help everyone. I flushed hard on the night of the post and it smartened them up but still got leaves turning. Hopefully some extra feed will help

80 F and 40% humidity not too good. I am fighting that now. The winter was a lot easier. Cooler temps and higher humidity for me in the winter.

He might want to get a cool humidifier to try to bring up humidity.

A/c just went on in the house today and even though there is no close feed of forced air anywhere near the grow room. It's surrounding will be much cooler now

A/C also lowers humidity. Better get that humid up to 50 min 55 is better during lights ON.

The soil has become hydrophobic. Peat is bad for it. It gets so dry it won't take water.

You have them in a screen so moving them won't work.

Work a pan or something that will hold water. Water several times about 10 minutes apart. Add a drop of dish soap to the water to break water tension.

If it wicks the water up from the pan keep adding water to the pan until it quits wicking water up.

Chronic under watering and dry spots will lead to wilted yellowing leaves. It will also cause necrosis(brown dead spots.)

Proper watering technique makes or breaks a grow.

Add a layer of sand, mulch or perlite to break the breeding cycle of fungus gnats.


I had an outbreak of them. Perlite works just fine.

My grow is in signature. I've dealt with several problems in it. From mites to bad batch of peat base that gave me ph problems. Had to dig them up and put in new soil.

Worst came to worse I'd take the time to change soil but I don't have room for a bigger pot. Humidity is chilling at almost 55 even now. Temps still creeping up to 80 by the 10hr mark. Hope the house temp change with the a/c going will help the grow area. Lots of new white hairs on the nugs since the flush and feed. Gotta get in routine with feeding the lady's.

I don't think you will have to change soil.

Get some Espoma garden tone.

I use that and worm castings. I have a worm bin. You can also buy worms castings.

I use a sprinkle of garden tone and a small handful of castings top dressed once a month. Mix lightly into top layer of soil.

Works great if your soil depletes before the plant is done.

Mainly get the watering figured out and the soil moist and they will recover.
