The Main-Lining Thread

Hello, im on my second round of the mainline method and just had one question. My manifolds are developed for 8 tops and im at the point of filling it out with fan leaves and height before flower. My question is, before i initiate flower, should i be removing growth tips that are starting to grow out and look like small mains? I feel like these growth tips are taking away from the point of mainlining. I just wanna make sure before i remove them
I gradually clean up the bottom as flowering progresses. It is also strain dependent and how much penetration with your lights.
My sativas I let alone a bit and I will chop the tops and let the lowers go for a week or two more. My last round of critical widow was indica dominant and the each mainline was 12" long. I just chopped them.
You will see which lower branches will turn into popcorn and amount to nothing. Now keep in mind I have 5 different strains and they range from mostly sativa to 50/50 mix to indica dominant plants that are like little bonsai trees with 8 buds. Read through this entire thread and at some point someone has grown something similar to what you are growing. Good luck.

may I ask where your WW is from? looks good. My WW is struggling a bit...it is seedsman, so far not i am not impressed.
From a three year old first seed purchase from Crop King. They were very good first run, smelled a bit skunky then very floral after cure, like a grandma's perfume. Great daytime smoke can't wait to try it again. Yes they're very stout!

Acapulco Gold !!! I havent heard of that strain for decades. along with Panema Red and Tigh Stick. am missing them so much.
The original was before my time, very good from Barney's. It has a heavy berry diesel smell, smooth smoke and very heady. My favorite I've grown :)

In the second picture, you can see the thicker stem is the main, but if you notice the two growth tipsstarting to grow longer than i would like. so should i remove these growth tips so it does not take away from the main?

Third picture is just a manifold that i was proud of on a different plant lol.

The small side growth is OK if it isn't a drag on the main stalk.

The most important thing is to keep all of the tops at the exact same height. Then they all think they are the main cola and you get 8, 16, 32... main colas!

@chillok - those girls look perfect!

I'm planning on growing 4 main colas on my plant and had a question. I just topped it last week and currently have the 4 main tops. However, each top right now has two nodes. Should I remove the lower node from each of the 4 tops?

Also this is my first grow so I was planning on going with 4 colas to minimize the amount of work I would have to do later as far as upkeep and trimming once they are harvested. However, I see that most people tend to go with a minimum of 8 colas. Any good reason why I shouldn't just stick with 4? I'm growing outdoors if that makes a difference.

I have the same problem with one cola on each plant slacking. I wonder how to fix this. same thing happened on my last run but by week 5 flower it worked itself out and was exactly even.

I have my 4 main tops (which is my goal) at a pretty even height but am starting to get a decent amount of side growth. I've left most of the side growth for now because I can't decide yet whether or not to remove it and figured it wouldn't hurt to do so since it's still in vegging stage. Assuming that logic is correct, should I continue LSTing to try to get the side growth even with the main colas as well? I'm not sure whether or not that is counterproductive.
