Exactly.... old growth is new growth that had immobile uptake issues including n from an under developed root system from the planting originally.

Or old growth could have been very healthy when it was new growth and is now showing mobile nutrient issues, as is in the photos in this thread.

1st off, why use distilled water? Do you have toxic well water? Otherwise scrap that idea. If you are worried about chlorine effect on micro organisms, simply fill a bucket with your tap water and let it sit overnight, and all the chlorine will be evaporated.
Assuming that you are in soil, all the Cal Mag/nutes you add will build up, and never go away in a plant's life cycle, that is why I added nutes every 3rd watering, because the soil holds so much more than a plant can possibly use.
As far as minerals are concerned, use a kelp based supplement such as Advanced Nutes B-52, which will provide all the essential minerals and vitamins needed for optimal plant growth.
There are other ways to add minerals beside relying on Cal Mag.

Possibly but I think we already covered the possible nutrient deficiency /deficiencies that got him to post here to begin with didnt we . I mean isnt that what we are talking about? Its cool, im out because Im obviously confused lol.

They've been in Ocean Forest from day 1. I was weary of burning them so I was probably being over-cautious. I didn't feed them for the first 3-4 weeks of life. It just seems that the recommended amounts on the FF feeding schedule we excessive for the size of my plant.

To be 100% honest, I only used distilled water because the hydro shop suggested it with it being my first grow. If there aren't any adverse effects, I would much rather let my tap water sit to evaporated chlorine and use that. This is my first grow so I wanted to do everything by "the book" but it turns out there isn't any ONE book to go by lol...which is why I'm a member here

I like ocean forest but it can be somewhat inconsistent. I also feel the feeding schedule is a bit off for amounts and such. I did get told by the ff manufacturer that cal mag is virtually non existent in their soils or product line and other micronutrients are very low and I may want to add them. Is this true? I dont know but its from the horses mouth so to speak.

I was under the assumption of the same which is why I was adding cal-mag to begin with, but I was over doing it with every watering I guess. Once I get the hang of reading my plants needs better, and more grow under my belt, I'm going to be a fucking beast at this. In due time lol

you CLEARLY have medium severity magnesium def
yes your using calmag I understand... but calmag is more calcium than magnesium
if you want to add calcium add calmag
if you want to add magnesium add Epsom salt
the fox farm nutes have zero calcium and little to no magnesium in them!!!! look at the bottles
so adding the calmag isn't bad because it kept you from being calcium def
although id bet you could cut it back to every other watering don't over do it!!
add Epsom salt 1/2 tsp per gallon and water it in to roots
after you've recovered cut it back to 1/4 tsp every other..
spray them a couple times with 1/2 tsp per gallon epsom salt
flip to to flower because your space is already over crowded

Do I add the epsom salt to my normal waterings or to my nute feedings as well? I'm definitely cutting. There's been a consensus that I've been using too much cal-mag so I'm definitely cutting back on that. Thanks for your input too boss.

improved air circulation generally or allowing light to hit a shaded top thats getting crowded out to let it catch up. i wouldnt do it to a sick plant though. some plants are just a little too bushy for their own good imo. dont take off many though. like many are about to say theyre important lol

I take a lot of leaves off my plants but only the bottom area of them for the most part to make it nice and clean and cause at some point if you have healthy plants these lower leaves are not necessary. I strip a handful off at a time until theyre how i like them and they dont mind

on some plants(not all) if theyre extremely bushy with huge fan leaves I pull a few her or there but not more than 20%
you can take the lower leaves and cut the lower growth that's not going to get enough light anyway
the pics Cannn posted look good and clean at the bottoms
just don't make a habit of it... stretch plants often don't need it done at all
youd be netter off not doing it than over doing it

typically I add it on the days I fertilize along with the fertilizer
